had this piece of shit to that marshall dude, the same guy that did that movie about the dumb ass chicks in a cave, because I don't want to see Blomkamp fail on a picture that suffers from chronic failure!

If those are the two choices then they should go with Blomkamp, but even though he hasn't done enough to be an A-list director I feel that he is too good for this and should just do his own thing for a while. On the other hand Blomkampy could give this arguable low budget film the quality of a blockbuster movie so from Paramount's perspective he would be the best choice.

I think Dune, the mini-series is as close you're ever going to get to capture the essence of the book. Anyone who says that a book can't be filmed ought to listen to Korey, when he says that it's all about the adaptation process that makes the difference, and who is the one adapting. They say that "Lord of the Rings" could not be made, and they proved naysayers wrong. They also say that "Watchmen" couldn't be made either, and they were proven RIGHT. So, it's all about process and principal people involved that will make the difference. Personally, I thought both Dune projects were fine, but for different reasons (style versus substance). But that's MY opinion.

I would have less of a problem with Blomkamp directing, though honestly, this project has always been doomed to failure. Hell, even if they had Kubrick back from the dead and allowed a six-hour running time, they still couldn't do the novel justice.
