Ben Affleck Denies Involvement In 'Justice League'

Recently, the web was abuzz at the rumor that Warner Brothers was toying with the idea of hiring Ben Affleck to direct their massive Justice League movie. While this was a long shot in many, many ways, it was an interesting prospect to say the least and one worthy of discussion. However, that discussion can now be firmly relegated to mere hypothetical as the actor/director himself has put to bed any rumors that he will be helming the DC supergroup flick. Here's what he said in a recent interview...

"I'm not working on the Justice League. Justice League sounds really exciting, but it's not something I'm working on."

I know there are a great many comic book fans who are breathing a sigh of relief at the moment, but the more I think about it, the more I would've been on board for an Affleck 'Justice League.' Again, I think his starring in it in any way would have been a bad idea, but I still think Affleck could have done something interesting with it as a filmmaker. He's handled great ensembles in his previous movies, and he starred in 'Daredevil' so, if nothing else, he should now have a pretty good sense of what not to do in a superhero movie. All in all, I think DC needs to take more chances and make more bold decisions when it comes to helmers for their properties. Marvel has enjoyed a gargantuan amount of success by "gambling" on talented directors who aren't necessarily safe bets as far as the money men are concerned. Sure, DC took a chance on Christopher Nolan for 'Batman Begins,' but I'd hardly call Martin Campbell or Zack Snyder bold choices, solid directors though they are. So Affleck becomes another in what is sure to be a long line of prospective directors for Justice League.

So sound off, Spillios. Now that Affleck is definitely out, who would be your number one pick for the job of directing The Justice League movie?

Any of these directors would be perfect:

1. Uwe Boll

2.Todd Lincoln

3.Simon West

4.Peter Berg.

@The Film Rebellion I think the best line upt would be

man of steel 2013,

wonderwoman 2014,

and batman&superman movie 2015 (that way we reboot batman)

a flash movie 2015,

and THEN JLA 2016 were we are introduced to Martian manhunter and green lantern. they both can come in on a interstellar concept.

well the lastest word on the street is that the Wachowski brothers are looking at the script now. There's a part of me that feels they COULD do it right, but those matrix sequels still leave a bitter taste in my mouth and they haven't done anything subsequently that made up for it. ...so the real question is, what do you think of that?

If a JLA movie does happen, I think the films leading up to it should go like this:

Man of Steel (of course) (2012)

Wonder Woman (2014): There's a rumor she'll have a cameo in Man of Steel. I'm not sure how true that is, but I think the Spill crew made a good call when they saw Gina Carano in the role.

Green Lantern Reboot (2014): After the abismal Green Lantern with Ryan Reynolds, I doubt they'd do a sequel. I think it'd be best to just reboot it and get Bradley Cooper for the role. I'd say Nathan Fillion but he might be too old by now.

The Flash (2016): I could see Chris Pine in the role.

Green Arrow (2016): I'd probably go with Charlie Hunnam.

Batman Reboot (2016): As much as I don't want to see Batman rebooted, I actually think it could work if done right. I think they should take the approach the animated series took. Have it revolve around  Batman after he's had the role of the dark knight for a while. Have him be in his late 30's or early 40's. I could see Karl Urban in the role. Give the movie a film-noir feel. Just don't redo the origin story. We've seen it twice now. Do what Mask of the Phantasm did. Allude to it. Oh, and bring back his grey/black suit. I know everyone prefers the all-black suit, but I would like to see one that is straight up adaptation of the comics. It won't be better than Nolan's films, but it could still be good.

And then it all leads up to a Justice League film.

Bold & safe, I would consider giving Bryan Singer a chance. Superman Returns really wasn't bad as everyone makes it out to be. And he's done superhero/team films before.

You know that old saying, be careful what you wish for you just might get it? Well maybe fandom should stop wishing for a Justice League film!

Wish Nolan would do it.

I think Peter Jackson would be good to see. He has talked other genres but I dont think sci-fi/comic based. He can handle visuals really well as well as big budgets and has a name that put asses in seats.

Matt Damon should direct this movie.

Take your time DC. Don't crumble of the pressure of getting JLA out before Avengers 2. Just take your time. Still waiting to see if Man of Steel is going to be any good before I even concern myself about a JL film.
