Sometimes it's good to be the director... actor/director Ben Affleck has finally found the perfect leading man for his upcoming film 'Argo': Ben Affleck. Rather than find another leading man, the director of 'The Town' has decided to simply perform the role himself as well as direct (which should make any argument between actor and director oddly interesting).

The film is adapted from an April 2007 Wired article about how a group of CIA operatives snuck into Tehran and rescued six U.S. diplomats by pretending to be a film crew shooting a fake movie called 'Argo'. So, Affleck is a Hollywood actor directing himself acting like a CIA agent who is acting like someone in a Hollywood movie... oops, now my brain's gone all fuzzy. By freeing the diplomats and setting them up with fake identities as the fictional film crew, they were able to flee the country and get them home safely.

Affleck is also currently in negotiations with both Alan Arkin and John Goodman to join the film as real life Hollywood producer Lester Seigel and Oscar-winning makeup artist John Chamers, respectively. With the critical acclaim that his film 'The Town' has received, this might be another project to keep an eye on as it moves forward.

Sounds very interesting, never heard of the story before. People used to give Ben Affleck shit for not being a great actor but after moving into directing I'm really happy he's getting better critical acclaim. I think he has a great talent for directing and don't mind at all seeing him on screen as well.

@Superbadmike

Almost EVERY actor in Hollywood started out in something bad and worked their way up, it's nothing new, it's nothing special!

I think Ben Affleck is the only guy in hollywood who started out in shit and slowly made his way to the top to where all his movies now are awesome. He paid his dues and its his time to shine. Looking forward to this one.

He's become one of those directors I have to see when he has a new film

if Argo is as good as The Town and Gone Baby Gone...than Ben Affleck will sure as fuck be at the top of his game for a long time. He is already a better director than half of them out there.

I went from not minding Ben Affleck, to making fun of him a lot...to defending him and really respecting him. I dont think any other actor has had such a variety of feelings from me. if i had to combine all his work together, i would have to say he is a very talented ex-shitty actor.
