Behold The Viral Marketing For 'Pacific Rim'

Guillermo del Toro's 'Pacific Rim' is going to be a massive feather in Warner Brothers' cap in 2013. Though we're still several months away from its release, the studio is looking to get people really excited for this movie about human-piloted robots battling giant aliens...as if that freaking synopsis isn't enough, right? Today, a couple of different viral marketing materials have been released via the film's Pan Pacific Defense Corps site. The first is "real memo" from the Marshal of the Great Britain Air Command recommending a few officers for promotion to the Jaeger Initiative; Jaeger being the name for the mech suits apparently. Finally, there is a video of a test of the Emergency Kaiju Alert System. They don't seem to be messing around here, they are really trying to cement the world of the film into the heads of audiences that won't see it until next July. Take a look at all the material below and let us know what you think. And pop over to the Pan Pacific Defense website for a trailer countdown.

'Pacific Rim' hits theaters July 12th, 2013

Wow, they're straight up calling them Kaiju? That's cool, I guess. So it really is Godzilla meets Gundam, eh? This may top my list for most anticipated.

Looking forward to this one.

This is kind of like the stuff they did for TDKR. I'm really glad people are actually taking time to do these viral marketing campaigns. Anything is better than being barraged with ads before videos and pop-ups on websites.
