If it's crap ... We'll tell you

Arsène Lupin the Third posted a statusNow that 'The Dark Knight Rises' has been released, DC/WB can set to work promoting the hell out of their next big property, 'Man of Steel.' The superman reins have now been handed to Zack Snyder ('300,' 'Watchmen') and we've been eagerly anticipating the release of the film's first trailer. Well, we'll have to settle for these two teasers for the time being. I find this footage fascinating mostly because it is not at all what you would expect to see in a Superman film. Up until the very last shot, this looks more like a remake of 'First Blood.' I must say that overall it has me thoroughly intrigued, which is precisely its job. Check out the teasers below (one featuring Kevin Costner as Jonathan "Pa" Kent, the other featuring Russell Crowe as Jor-El) and let us know what you think.
'Man of Steel' soars into theaters June 14th, 2013.

Comment by Exploding Knees on July 27, 2012 at 6:41pm I'm a huge fan of "Watchmen" and "Dawn of the Dead", but I strongly despise "300" and "Suckerpunch", so I'm stuck in the middle with Zack Snyder. I think Superman is a painfully boring character, but if the next trailer shows Superman doing a bunch of crazy shit, I'll probably give it a whirl.
Comment by Casspian on July 27, 2012 at 2:00am Superman Returns built me up so much, and when illegitimate, immaculate conception Supes Jnr pushed the piano across the floor, I was like 'fcuk this goddamn thing'.
I personally like Slo-mo Synder, but he is taking on pretty much one of the hardest properties to revive since Schumacher's neon & nipples Batman. I don't know about them going back to Zod + cronies — come on guys, the Big Blue has more than 2 villains. Darkseid? Doomsday? Braniac? Sh!t, I'd even take Metallo if it was done right.
Comment by K6 on July 26, 2012 at 1:01pm I don't know if someone else wrote this already and I don't care to read through 11 pages of other member's comments. I think its perfect for the DC franchise to set up for a Justice league movie.
I thought it was going to be like 300 or Watchmen, but I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't... you know.... a monotone color and feel, with slow mo and a shit load of CG. It looks real, it looks like Chronicles to be honest. It fits well next to the Dark Knight Trilogy. And, if we assume that Green Lantern was a dark horse and to be never talked about like the hulk movies prior to the Avengers..... we have a Justice League movie.
Now... they just have to make a proper Flash and Wonder Woman movie and its all good. JUSTICE LEAGUE! JUSTICE LEAGUE! JUSTICE LEAGUE!
Comment by Heath Ferris on July 25, 2012 at 6:32pm Well, I'm not in particular love or hate with these teasers or with the Terrance Mallick tree of life succession of images that are supposed to invoke feelings in my cold black heart. I did squee with joy seeing Superman in flight, but I want to see more of Superman being super, not his home movies and mopey walkabout diary. I'd like to know why we saw nothing of General Zod in this trailer but I suspect that we will get that in the next couple of trailers for this movie.
Comment by Boatloads1017 on July 25, 2012 at 1:44pm Points off for jacking Lord of the Rings music. Also, what is this, Bill Bixby's Superman?
Comment by OverlyWhiteMale on July 25, 2012 at 11:09am Okay... awesome trailer... but what's with the LOTR music? Did Gandalf die after defeating Zod or something?
Comment by Carnage Kosmic on July 25, 2012 at 9:26am I really like the tone of the trailer, much quieter and simplistic than you'd expect from a Superman movie. If they keep that feeling for a good portion of the movie and really let us get to know Clark Kent I'll be behind it.
