If it's crap... We'll tell you

Axel

Before you enter the contest, read my Pirate Radio review.

A bunch of good actors on a boat listening to good...no, GREAT music should be a recipe for one of the best films of the year. Yet as I sat there watching this, all I could think to myself is "Do you think it's possible for me to eat my own face?" Thats right ladies and gentleman, this movie FUCKING SUCKS.

I already know people are going to disagree with this...i'm positive. But i'm sorry I can't help it, I hate this movie. And the worst part is; I should love it. Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Bill Nighy, Nick Frost and the writer of Love Actually, this movie should be one of my favourites of the year. But no...pure bullshit. Now before you all rip me to pieces, let me enlighten you.

Before my i engadge in my rant, here's what the movie is about. So in the 60's, rock on the radio wasn't allowed, it was only broadcast on pirate radios outisde the British duristiction. This was the rebel thing to do back in the day, we have doing cocaine off a stripper's backside, they had staying up late and listening to the radio. There's no real story line to this. It's really just an outcast kinda guy finding his place with a bunch of misfits on a boat that broadcasts rock. A simple premise, but hey, i've loved worse. So the music's good, the acting doesn't suck. So why do I loathe this? I'll tell you.

The movie is smug. The movie thinks it can get away with cheap laughs and relies on the idea of it more than the actual script. It's such a cliche that it gets to a point where your just sitting there going "Please, please do something else." The villan played by Kenneth Branaugh couldn't have been more of a "Fuddy - duddy" villan. Here is there to simply be the grouchy politician. Whenever there's a moment where the director needed a transitional scene, he goes staright to old guys dancing to the Rolling stones or the Who. This happens at least 4 different times. And i do get how people like this, I just do not give a shit about this movie. I can see this movie being universally liked, with those odd ball people who just hate the shit out of it. I am one of these people. This movie wasn't meant to be taken seriously, it's meant for abit of retro fun...and I couldn't give a shit.

Something positive about this movie...I like the soundtrack, I love the cast...who oddly have a pretty bland chemistry with each other, some of these characters do horrible things to each other and for some reason they are blankly forgiven. If you really need to see this movie rent it...or even download it, the less money this movie gets the better. Because its just showing the world that even the laziest movie can make a profit. This isn't a "Fuck You" but it's close. Go see 2012 isntead, atleast there you can watch an actual trainwreck rather than just a symbolical one.

I'm sorry to hear the this movie might be junk. I really liked the trailer. It kind of reminded me of Goodmorning Vietnam, a Robin Williams movie that I actually liked. Will wonders never cease? I will probably end up seeing this movie anyway. I absolutly LOVED Love Actually! But you could be right.

I said the movie was a cliche, and I believe that the films I have listed as my favourites do something diferent which is why the laughs work in it. And regarding a story line to this film, it's just like a Fast and the Furious movie, they just take a concept like a kidnapping or a ruthless drug lord and add a bunch of shit to it. As far as i'm concerened this movie did everything i'd seen before. And....This movie is R, so do your fucking research before you decide to lose your thong up your arse.

you are the biggest fucking retard ive head today... and ive head a few.

no storyline???? its about the government trying to shut down a pirate radio station! how the fuck can that not be considered a storyline?

Cheap laughs... lol... this is what you have as your fav comedies on your page: Superbad, Zack and Miri Make a Porno, 40 Year Old Virign, Team America, Jackass the Movie, Dumb and Dumber, Borat, Christmas Vacation. just because this movie didnt have enough sex jokes to keep your erection up the whole time dosent make this a cheap movie (i added the erection thing just for you)

transitional scene? this is a PG-13 movie... anyone over 13 should not need one...

oh and jean genie its not a hollywood movie, which clearly means u havnt seen it so shut the fuck up.

Don't most of Hollywood's comedies now days rely on cheap laughs, instead of a good script? Yep. Its called giving you a low cost piece of bullshit, in return for getting an easy $12 out of you at the door...

Great post, Axel. I'm glad I got to hear your views on the movie. It sounded so good on paper. The actors, the writer, the music. But I guess they don't always work well together. I think I'll give it a miss.
