If it's crap... We'll tell you

Ok, I'm a huge G1 transformers fan. I have been ever since I was very young. My older brother got me into it because he was 9 years older than me, and I love the shit out of the episodes he recorded, which was most of season 1, and 3. I got very excited when I heard about the first film being made. No, I'm not going to go into some deep review on the films, because to put it bluntly, there's just too much to say about them. The only thing I enjoyed about the films were the score, which was brilliant.

All of that aside, I didn't dislike the movies because of their disloyalty to G1. Yes, that bothered me, but I can get over that in a live action adaptation. I just didn't like them because they don't have what I feel is required to make a good movie. Now, I don't mind if someone says they like these films. That is fine. But what I cannot understand, is why in the Hell M.Bay has this ....legion of angry fans! I mean, anywhere I go, outside or on the web, if I even mention I didn't care for the films, then people jump up my ass! I mean, what the Hell is going on? There have been many a mindless blockbuster film in my 25 years, but never have I been attacked or insulted so many times by stating that I didn't enjoy a movie. I mean, this didn't happen when Star Wars came out. Everyone was talking shit about those films. It didn't happen when I didn't care for the Pirates squeals. So, why is it, then when I simply state, after being asked "No, I really didn't care for the movie", I get attacked? Some people tell me I am viewing it wrong, some people try to tell me I just don't get it, some people go as far as to call me stupid "which REALLY boggles my mind". So I'm still trying to figure this out. Is it M.Bay that they are defending? Do they love Transformers that much? I mean, most of the people who defend it are people too young to really remember Transformers, so how can they be THAT loyal to the title? I hate these movies very much, I'll admit that, they are two of the worst big budget films I've ever seen in MY opinion. But that's me. I don't expect others to feel how I do. So, where is all of this hostility coming from? Hell, even the Spill crew has gotten a load of flack for not liking the film, so I ask again, WHAT is going on?

If you like the film, that's fine, enjoy it! I really want you to enjoy what you enjoy. But I just want people to not ask me what I think, then when I answer their question, I am told I'm a fucker who is stuck in the 80's. Maybe I'm stuck in the 80's, but I promise you, that is NOT the reason I didn't like these movies. It's getting outta hand, but hopefully as new movies come out, the need to defend will calm down.

Anyway, that's just a random rant of mine. Enjoy the film if you want to, just please don't get so hot under the collar if someone else see's it as a bad film.

I just can't get over the whole "What did you expect?" "Your just supposed to have a good time!" I thought that came from good plot. I mean, special effects are great and all, but seriously. And I don't mind that these kids love the movie. I mean, I myself love the Matrix trilogy, but I can understand fully why others wouldn't. I never got all pissed off when people said they were bad films. So whats with THIS movie? I mean, why is this not happening with other films? Is it just because it has the biggest special effects to date? Do they love Bay that much? I just can't figure it out, and I wouldn't care so much if people didn't keep badgering me with it.

Don't mind the kiddies. They don't have enough films under their belts to know what's good and what isn't. The dominant opinion (that it was unmitigated shit) will prove out as these same obnoxious tantrums were used for the Ang Lee Hulk movie, the Star Wars prequels (esp. Revenge of the Sith... people briefly considered that a diamond in the rough) and the Matrix sequels (a lot of people adored Matrix Reloaded and then were surprisingly shocked when Revolutions was just as bad).

They have to widen their exposure.

On Thursday night after dinner, I saw The Road at the River Oaks theater (which I think is the only theater in town showing the movie, right now). I'll start off with the good points of the film: great story; very moving; well-acted; magnificent c...
