I liked how bruce wayne/batman was not the super badass from the get go, how obviously inexperienced he was, despite his already accumulated ninja skills he still needed a wake up call (aka, catwoman whoopin his ass). And then he learned how to better pick his battles. And Jim gordon's whole story was awesome, awesome as in describing exactly why he is a badass. Also, adding some character flaws really helped develop a great Jim Gordon.
