Nolan's Batman movies are great, while Begins was an incredible Batman movie that layed out the foundations for what the next film would be about, The Dark Knight is in the category of many bests, the best Batman movie ever made, the best superhero film ever made, and( to some, including myself) one of the best films ever made. Yes, I love TDK, I think it is an example of a genius director, Christopher Nolan, taking one of my most beloved characters and adapting him into a series of films that are both dark, emotionally gripping, and overall, very depressing but, at the same time, heroic. Now, Gary Oldman being the great guy he is, accidentally let loose that Batman 3 is on it's way and will be coming out sooner than we think. The funny thing is, despite this news, people are talking about TDK just as much as they did after it came out. It's weird, people have fallen into two groups, those who are tired as hell of people STILL talking about The Dark Knight, and people who just enjoy the movie so much they can't stop( one of my friends is still quoting the Joker on a daily basis). Now, here's a question, what will Batman 3 be about? Who will be the villain? What can we expect from the story? Who knows. No one does. In this blog I will be talking about my idea for a story and what personally I'd like to see from the third( and most likely last film in Nolan's Batman series).
The Villains
Probably the most fun aspect of talking about a new Batman flick is, who are the villains? Well these are just the guys I myself would like to see and my ideas for their characterization.
Bane

Undoubtedly one of the most intelligent of Batman's foes and one of the most dangerous. Achieving notoriety after literally breaking Batman's spine and putting him out of the game only to be replaced by a grim and mentally unbalanced Batman, Bane is a great villain. Although often not used to his full potential since his original creation, Bane is one of my favorite Batfoes. How would he fit in the movies?
My Idea: When I think of Bane, I think of a plotter, a guy who is both clever, dangerous, as well as scary. I'd imagine him as one of the new crime bosses in Gotham. Perhaps dressed in a black suit wearing his traditional mask, it would be revealed that much like in the Comics and Cartoon, Bane is obsessed with Batman, after hearing about him in prison he wants to be the first one to knock The Dark Knight down. It is only when Batman and Bane meet that he reveals just how dangerous he is, using an experimental steroid like drug(something Bane hints at as the reason for his strength), he tears through his clothing and becomes almost comically muscled. Nearly beating Batman to death, the Caped Crusader manages to stop him in the usual Bane defeating manner, cut off his supply of Venom. Taking this into notice, Wayne finally realizes that what the Joker said about "at the rate it's inhabitants are losing their minds" was not just a joke to get him riled up. Is his very presence in Gotham causing people like Bane to appear? I'd imagine B3 would be a 3 hour or so film like TDK so there would be plenty of time to develop Bane as a character and help us forget that muscle bound idiot from Batman and Robin.
The Riddler

A trickster, a puzzler, and overall a man who seeks to solve and create the greatest riddles ever. The Riddler is obsessive about his Riddles, something Batman often uses to his advantage. While not the most dangerous of Batman's rouges gallery, Riddler is one of the most complex, using almost ridiculously crazy and convulted Riddles, he seeks to create even one the Batman can't solve..
My Idea: Personally, the Riddler is one of my least favorite villains but, since everyone is expecting him to be in Batman 3 so much I had to give some insight onto how I think he'd fit into the Nolanverse. The Riddler would dress in a makeshift green suit, compromised with various question marks scratched into it perhaps with a knife or something else. First and foremost, the film would revolve around a great mystery, a great Riddle that would finally make Batman more of a detective and actually have to solve something( okay the Detective scenes in TDK were better but, not on the money as much as I'd like them to be). The Riddler would mostly be a sideline character as Bane take's center stage, only to emerge at the last half that unless Batman solves his riddle, Gotham will fall. The Riddler would be pulling the strings on Bane as he has a vast supply of Bane's venom, something the poor addict can't live without. Finally facing the Riddler, Wayne has solved his murderous Riddle, something that shocks the Riddler into a furious rage as no one has EVER solved his Riddles. The film would end with the Riddler a broken man, having been beaten at his game by Batman. Transferred to Arkham along with the Joker( who would make a small cameo in the Background, waving to Batman as he walks the Riddler to his cell).
The Heroes
Batman/ Bruce Wayne

For one thing, I liked how in TDK they actually implemented into the story the modification to the Batsuit to allow his head to turn. Now, we ALL hate Batman's voice in TDK. Why not implement THAT into the story as well? Perhaps he realizes that he doesn't need to try and sound like a demonic monster with a smoking problem in order to scare people and drops the voice( maybe after a humorous quip by Alfred about the voice). One thing I loved about TDK is the themes of Escalation, that the Joker was trying to convince everyone that as a Result of Batman's interference in the Natural order of things, people like HIM were going to keep popping up. Let's expand on that, more and more crazed and colorful villains appear( Bane and the Riddler), Bruce has to come to terms with the fact that perhaps as a way to counterbalance his own theatricality and colorfulness, criminals will start to do the same thing. Besides that, we have to deal with the fact that for much of the film, Batman will be a wanted criminal. Blamed for the deaths that Two face caused in the previous film, Bruce starts to become physically and psychologically troubled as he is continuously chased by Gordan's MCU( with a reluctant James Gordan at the helm) and even some citizens of Gotham who attack him on the streets because of their mourning for Harvey Dent. He begins to become hardened as the film goes on, realizing that despite the way the people feel about him, he is their guardian, no matter if they like it or not. However, eventually it would be leaked that Harvey Dent was behind the crimes as a teenager wandering around near the destroyed warehouse from the first film had filmed the death of Harvey Dent and his threatening of Gordan's family. The people however, don't react in the way that the Joker intended. Despite the horrific nature of his crimes, the true story of Two Face's descent into madness is revealed by Commissioner Gordan in a press conference, people begin to realize that perhaps, Batman is the hero they do need, maybe not the one they needed at the time but, if there's anyone who could save them from Bane and the Riddler's crime spree, it's him. With his confidence in himself restored, Bruce fights Bane to a standstill and manages to find and defeat the Riddler as well. Saving a group of hostages, including( the child Rachel Dawes protected from the first film), who while escaping, says two words to him: "Thank you". The movie would end on the High note that TDK didn't. With the people of Gotham behind him, Bruce finally understands that all people CHOOSE who they want to be, he didn't create Bane or the Riddler, they did that to themselves. All men are responsible for their own destiny.

Forced into hunting one of the few people left that he still trusts, this would be a movie that helps develop the friendship of Batman and Gordan. By the Batman's wishes, his team the MCU start a manhunt on the Batman, however many of the cops in the MCU have their suspicions that Batman wasn't involved in the killing of those people, the one cop alive that knows Harvey Dent is behind the murders, Ramirez, was fired from the MCU after Gordan found out she was reluctantly working for Sal Maroni. Despite fears that she would reveal the secret behind the murders, Ramirez was a devastated woman, finally realizing the full extent of her part in the death of Rachel Dawes, she tells Gordan that with whatever trust in her he has left, she won't tell anyone about Harvey. With his faith in people shaken by the traitors in his unit, Gordan contemplates leaving the GCPD because of his unwilling commitment to arresting someone who did nothing wrong in the first place. However his faith is restored after the footage of Harvey Dent is revealed and the people take it better than he would have expected. In an emotional press conference as Batman fights Bane in another scene, he reveals the full details on Harvey's insanity and his part in it. The Gothamites are moved by the truth, the hunt for Batman is called off as the people began to realize just how much they need Batman. After the Riddler and Bane's arrest, Batman and Gordan share a conversation about his continuously expanding gallery of super villains. At first Batman blames himself, telling Gordan that the Joker was right but, Gordan with a comforting hand on his shoulder tells him that all people choose their destinies in life, that it is wasn't his fault. Batman tells Gordan that he was fated to become Batman, but Gordan shakes his head, telling him that no one forced you to put on a suit and fight crime, you CHOSE to be the Batman, just as you chose to take the fall for Harvey's Crimes.
Would it be good?
Who knows, these are all just my ideas. Could the third Batman movie by Nolan possibly be better than TDK? No. The answer is simply no. The movie was just too good, no sequel could top it, unless in twenty years we get another Batman remake with a better Joker, it just can't be done. However, can it be AS good as TDK? Now that's a possibility. Nolan is a director who knows what he is doing, he is also a capable writer, I can imagine a Bat sequel that is just as good as his previous efforts, better? No way, but I've got faith in Nolan and his team. I bet, that they could make a kickass last film. IF it is made with honest to god effort, not with how much money it will gross in mind.
