Bale Talks About Third 'Batman' Movie

Total Film sat down with actor Christian Bale and asked him about the highly anticipated follow-up to The Dark Knight.
Bale said:
"Will we do a third movie? It's got to be the right story. You can't make something like The Dark Knight and then come out with something disappointing...I would like it if people say, 'You'll never make a good third movie.' I say, 'OK, let's make a third movie in that case, let's prove them wrong. But that's just me. The fact is, I have to! I've signed up! Chris [Nolan] doesn't. So I'm in a bit of a fix if he says he doesn't want to!"

Hey...I look at it this way, finally a good movie to look forward to seeing!...even though it hasn't been written yet. BUT Please....GAWD Please!!!...don't let sme dumb as director like Michael Bay direct the 3rd installment!!!

I say if they do introduce Robin make him just a kid like the Tim Drake Robin. The thing with Robin is he's kind of a lighter hearted character and with the Nolan series especially (and especially after Dark Knight) there's no room for that. As far as villains go I would LOVE to see Mad Hatter a) because I enjoy the character, b) because they haven't done him in film yet c) he's that much of a fucked up character that they can TOTALLY pull him off well, especially with the right actor.

I say have Robin into the film, but make him die more than halfway through the film, sort of like in the comic when Joker kills Robin, and Batman snaps and beats the Joker half to death.
That would be great. Of course with another character other than Joker.
If Micheal Bay became the director instead, Christian Bale, that would suck for you.

I think with a little tweaking they could totally revisit Ra's al-Ghul, Talia, and the Lazarus Pit. It might be jarring to not have the film take place primarily in Gotham City, but I'd love to see a globe trotting, intense Batman movie.

phurdrick, RIP is waaaay too complicated to tell in one film. It's a novel to be sure. However, it bears notice that the next Batman film should attack Bruce on a psychological level.

wait he's signed on before Nolan has, now if Nolan doesnt sign on everybodys screwed.
Sorry to be so narrow minded.
We need to give him some time, come out with another movie inbetween (like he did with The Prestige)
