Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg ('Superbad') are bringing about 'The Apocalypse.' The two have written, and will direct, this upcoming comedy about all the inherent hilarity of the end of days. The film is purportedly based on a 2007 short film by Seth Rogen and Jason Stone and currently stars Rogen, Jonah Hill, James Franco, Danny McBride, and Jay Baruchel. Well, to that growing list of currently popular comedians you can now add Aziz Ansari ('Parks and Rec'). During an interview with Grantland, Ansari let slip that he would be appearing in the film. He also confirmed that all the actors in the movie will be playing themselves. Apparently the plot here is that everyone is at a party at Franco's house when the apocalypse suddenly breaks out. 'The Apocalypse' is currently in pre-production and is set for a June 14, 2013 release.

This is good news as far as I'm concerned. I love Ansari as the clueless and disproportionately hip Tom Haverford on NBC's 'Parks and Rec,' and, after enjoying his work on the show as much as I did, I went back and listened to his standup. The guy is incredibly talented. However, I've somehow managed to miss nearly every single one of his films just by a series of unfortunate coincidences. In fact I think the only movie I've seen him in was 'I Love You, Man' wherein he had a two minute appearance as one of Paul Rudd's friends. As such, I can't comment too much on his cinematic presence, but if his moments in '30 Minutes or Less' are half as funny as they were in the trailer, I can't image he has any trouble translating his talent to the screen. It will be interesting to see how all these guys manage to play themselves in a scripted environment and balance naturalism with comedic timing.

What do you guys think? Do you think Ansari is a good addition to this cast? Are you interested in 'The Apocalypse?'

Definitely going to see this movie. lol Even Seths decent films are good to me. With the exception of The Green Hornet. Hill is making good movies still, I have yet to see The Sitter so idk about that lol. Franco or DaFranco lol is alway funny. I'm getting tired of Danny Mcbride though.

I've only ever really seen Aziz Ansari in bit parts in movies, having not seen '30 minutes or less', but he's a solid comedian, and I find he adds to films rather than detracts from them, so good news for this.  I'd like to see these guys playing themselves in an apocalypse.

I like Aziz and I think he's good looking, so I'm in.

I can't stand that guy. He's one of those people where they come across like they think they are the best thing ever when they are performing. He's just not funny. I believe 100% that if they cast someone else instead of him in 30 minutes or less it would have been so much better.

This is fantastic. I just watched Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening. He's so fantastic.

He may be a good actor, but as for the "comedian" part, this dude annoys the fuck out of me on the level of Dane Cook.

Better be a zombie apocalypse.

Ansari is a good addition to any cast.
