'Avengers' Bonus Feature Reveals Thanos Concept Art

If you picked up Disney's 'The Avengers' this week on Blu-ray (and if you haven't, shame on you and you should go do that right now), you may have noticed that the film comes with a downloadable app for what they've dubbed the 'Avengers Initiative: Marvel Second Screen Experience'. The app plays along with the film on your phone or tablet, offering bonus footage, concept art and additional information on scenes and characters. However, during the mid-credits sequence when the secret villain Thanos is finally revealed (possibly setting up his appearance in 'Guardians of the Galaxy' or 'Avengers 2'), the app features previously unseen concept art from the production, including a better look at his face and costume. Enjoy!

It looks like once again Marvel has managed to take the cosmic character's classic look and silhouette and bring it into their film universe with a definitely unique sci-fi bent that is indicative of costume designer Alexandra Byrne (who created the costumes for both 'Thor' and 'The Avengers'). While they will almost assuredly modify the design slightly for his role in upcoming Marvel films, this gives us a good idea of where they're starting from. Also, am I the only one who takes one look at that dour expression on his face in the first picture and automatically thinks Ron Perlman would be perfect for this?

That second picture of him reminds me of someone. Can't put my finger on it, though.

@Kane: Really? Hmmm...he's has a good look, need to check his credits...but if he can do more than sneer and really make the role, I say go for it. While I love Ron, I'm always up for giving newer actors a chance. Thanos is HUGE though, would be bigger than Heimdall...about Hulk size..and he needs a voice that can just creep the shit outta you. This is a being that once dated the physical incarnation of Death itself, and for a time was considered her equal.

Just for you non-comic types, Thanos as a supervillian and a threat in the Marvel Universe rates as a OH SHIT, PANTS TO DARKEN! just for being mentioned. Several steps above Magneto or Dr. Doom, he is a galactic-level badass that can handle whole superteams and beat them physically or mentally. For you DC fans, this guy is Marvel's Darkseid...maybe a bit less organized without the planet and demon troops and eyebeams of doom, but also physically stronger and smarter...and does not need a math equation to end all life.

He rather do that personally.

He a death worshipper, who wants to see all life exterminated to appease his lover Death. He is fucking INSANE, and enjoys what he does as long as it results in death and suffering. And if you think he's bad, wait til you meet his daughter....

i really hope they make it look good in the actual movie. avengers was good but the aliens were ruining the realistic look of the marvel universe set up by iron man 1 (in addition to thor, and maybe captain america, not so much hulk). still lookin forward to thanos. maybe well get the thor vs thanos fight scene. or a long shot...the odin vs thanos fight scene lol
