So, astro boy is the most recent film by Imagi, who's biggest movie to date was TMNT, and so now we have got astro boy.

So astro boy follows the story of a robot created in the image of Dr. tenma's son, toby. But after some time trying to be the father of asto, he changes his mind about keeping the robot and abandons astro, and so astro has find his place in the world.

Now truthfully i was excited at the prospect of seeing an astro boy movie, and not because of the original tv series but the 2003 tv series that i really enjoyed because it was a mature take on the whole concept and so i had hope this would take some inspiration from it, and of course i was wrong because this is just another adaption in the endless number of remakes, prequels, sequels and just anything in the studios pursuit of name recognition products to sell to the parents of 4 year olds. So first the good, well it has some decent animation that i found interesting but just generally bland, and probably because most things in this world are made of metal, and so it just comes across as a boring shiny collection of kindergarten toys. Nicholas cage is really one of the few good things here, his performance as Dr. tenma was enjoyable but thats about the only good thing here.

Now the bad: the bad in this movie is the script, the plot is ok but unfortunately the dialog is terrible and it all just felt like an endless joke or montage after another with useless and pointless characters that were just one bad joke that they kept beating you in the head and i really, really wanted after 5 seconds of them to just run out of the cinema and beat my head with a crow bar in to forgetting them because it was frustrating to just watch them but the main problem with it all is that they don't balance the jokes with the story and it feels weird when say a character is joking and then tries to show pain, i'm just sitting there cringing whenever this happens.

so in conclusion i would say that i did not laugh, did not feel for the characters and was bored if not cringing in my seat.
