Anne Hathaway Is Selina Kyle, Tom Hardy Is BANE In 'The Dark Knight Rises'

Source: Deadline

Deadline reports that Anne Hathaway has been officially cast as Selina Kyle in Warner Bros. Picture uber-anticipated The Dark Knight Rises. Additionally, Tom Hardy's long speculated role in the film has been revealed as ...  BANE.

Hathaway will bring Kyle, and more than likely, CATWOMAN back to the big screen for the first time since 2004's abysmal Halle Berry starrer. As for Bane, he hasn't graced the screen since 1997's Batman and Robin and I'm sure that this version will be better (if not necessarily bigger).

Read on below for the official release from Deadline:

BURBANK, CA, January 19, 2011 – Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that Anne Hathaway has been cast as Selina Kyle in Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises.” She will be starring alongside Christian Bale, who returns in the title role of Bruce Wayne/Batman.

Christopher Nolan stated, “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story.”

In addition, Tom Hardy has been set to play Bane. Nolan said, “I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman’s most formidable enemies.”

Nolan will direct the film from a screenplay he wrote with Jonathan Nolan, from a story by Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer. Nolan will also produce the film with his longtime producing partner, Emma Thomas, and Charles Roven.

“The Dark Knight Rises” is slated for release on July 20, 2012. The film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

My problem with Christopher Nolan is that his movies always have a cockiness about them that always pissed me off. Espicaly Dark Knight when all Christian Bale did was acta ll uppityh and snippy.  Also his movies lack humanity sometimes espicaly the Batman films where I could give a fuck less about Batman in either movie. that's never a good thing

This is some good news (Anne Hathaway is fucking hot, and Tom Hardy should make an awesome Bane) to be honest though, a better title for the movie would be "The Fall of The Dark knight" if it does follow the story of Bane breaking Batman's back. But that's just my opinion.

I just saw Bronso and I have to say, I welcome Hardy as Bane. I do have doubts about Anne Hathaway as Catwomen, but in Nolan I trust.

@hahabest Mate, it did good and it was fun. For when it came out. Looking back it isn't too great. It's good, but it's not that good. I said not a lot of people like it, not that most people don't like it. The numbers of who do and who don't like it are more diverse now that it's been out for some time. Same with Dark Knight, only Dent and Joker had more staying power I suppose since the numbers there lean closer to liking it (me included).
Either way, Nolan better deliver on a cunning AND brolik Bane.

@TheCynicalReaper umm you definitely are wrong about most people not liking Batman Begins 84% on Rotten Tomatoes and 373 million at the box office. Sounds pretty popular to me(obviously not as popular as the Dark Knight)

All I know is:
1. Ann Hathaway is friggin hot and a nice actress, so it'll be interesting to see Catwoman played through her.
2. Bane was not only freakishly big, he was also really cunning. Strategic and manipulative, Bane was a danger in both body and mind. But when Batman came too close and/or screwed over Bane's plans, Bane would OD on venom and turn into a mindless hulking beast of blind rage.

I didn't like Batman Begins. Not a lot of people do. Yet the Dark Knight was nicely done, especially with Harvey Dent. I really hope Nolan puts both of the defining character traits into Bane and makes him as deep as he should be, just like he did with Two-Face. If he doesn't, if he makes Bane just a mindless hulk all around? Then fuck him and the horse he strode in on. If he does, then he'll be the best ADULT RL Batman movie-director ever.

I was really hoping Bane would be in the next one, so this is relieving. However, why the hell is Tom Hardy playing him?

To the man who mentioned Tom Hardy in Bronson, you win the Internets.

Anyone who doubts Hardy needs to watch that movie. Or at least watch the trailer.

@GOTM I just called you a troll cause your post was very generic on your conplains, cause you came of to me as "OMG BANE !!! now this gona be complete trash dosent matter what happens" and when it comes to to a movie that soo many people r looking forward, such as myself, it usualy means :TROLL, especialy since Bane s not a bad charcter and a great villain,Knightfall was awesome and Nolan never used the orginal costumes on his movies.
