Against Type: Anna Kendrick in 'Pitch Perfect'

Source: THR

Actress Anna Kendrick ('Up in the Air', 'Scott Pilgrim vs. The World') has made a career out of playing pert, precocious, and self-assured characters but the 26-year old thespian has entered early negotiations for a different kind of role in the romantic comedy 'Pitch Perfect' - that of a rebellious, goth-like college student.

In the film, based on the Mickey Rapkin novel of the same name, Kendrick's character attends a college at which her father is a professor, much to her frustration. While not particularly liked by her classmates, she finds her voice and becomes the secret weapon for the school's female a capella team as they sing their way to victory in a grudge match against another university. Essentially, it sounds like if 'Glee' and 'Bring it On' had a drunken night together then spliced the resulting baby together with unholy DNA from 'She's All That'... you'd have 'Pitch Perfect'.

The film is scheduled to begin filming this fall in New Orleans, and will be helmed by Broadway musical director Jason Moore ('Avenue Q').

The premise sounds iffy, but Kendrick is a damn fine actress and... just damn fine. Hope she can make it better than it sounds.

Whether she's a goth, a librarian, a stripper, a girl next door, or whatever, I'd tap that any day of the week!

Goth or not I'd hit that.

Goth is like sriracha.  If it's already hot, it just makes it hotter.

I think she'd make a hot goth chick. The first Bring It On was okay, and it doesn't have far to go to be better than Glee. Plus, hopefully Jason Moore can make it watchable.
