'Adventures Of Tintin' Sequel To Be Released In 2015

Steven Spielberg's 'The Adventures of Tintin' was a marvel of animated filmmaking. Whether you ended up enjoying it or not, the achievements in the field of motion-capture technology utilized for the movie were astounding. Soon after the release of 'The Adventures of Tintin' it was announced that the sequel would not be directed by Spielberg, but instead Peter Jackson. So when would we see this second installment of Tintin's filmic adventures? Now, thanks to Jackson himself, we have our answer. During a press tour for 'The Hobbit,' Jackson revealed that 'Tintin: Prisoners of the Sun,' which is a great title by the way, will begin shooting the motion performances next year in time for a theatrical release in 2015. With his adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's classic 'Lord of the Rings' preamble now being released as a trilogy, this announcement effectively means that we will have a new Peter Jackson movie every year from now until 2015.

Wow, so chalk up another big title for 2015. Just days ago we learned that Fox's Fantastic Four reboot was lining itself up to compete with the likes of 'The Avengers 2,' 'The Justice League,' 'Star Wars Episode VII,' and 'Ant-Man.' However, this barely scratches the surface of the innumerable giant releases that will begin crowding into theaters just over two years from now. Again, some of these may shift closer to that time, but even so, it's going to be a titanic year for movies and Tintin has just thrown his hat into that formidable ring. My hope with 'Prisoners of the Sun' is that Jackson will have gotten past his 48fps phase, and that we won't have to suffer a Tintin story that looks like a soap opera. As much as the first 'Tintin' was an innovative film, I frankly just don't see any merit in this accelerated frame rate and can't subscribe to it's potential to improve the sequel. Sure, we'll probably have the option to see 'Tintin' in 24fps, but I hope Jackson is able to see by then how unnecessary this technology really is.

What do you guys think? Will 'The Adventures of 'Tintin: Prisoners of the Sun' be able to compete in 2015. Any thoughts on 48fps?

Prisoners of the Sun is my favorite Tintin comic. LOVE that Jackson is doing this; I can't wait!  48fps does look wonky and home-video-ish for live action, but higher framerates actually look amazing for CGI animation.  Games that run at 60fps look especially fluid and gorgeous.

Erg... I'm not looking forward to this. I have my reasons, I'll say that much, but suffice it to say I do hope Peter Jackson calms the frick down and stops dragging things out that don't need to be.

Ahh... 48fps. A bad idea that apparently just keeps getting worse. I respect Peter Jackson immensely, but he doesn't need to be shilling for the studios like that.

I hope when they do this one I can be invested

the 1st one was just so full of plot and exposition and usually that's never a good thing

like Spielberg, make stuff happen that's interesting!

This only increases the unfathomable amount of excitement I have for 2015.

I dug Tintin and would love to see what Jackson would do as director in comparison to Spielberg. From the sound of it, 2015 is going to be THE year for blockbuster movies.

I'll gladly take more Tintin.

Further proof that Peter Jackson might be losing his goddamn sanity

I really enjoyed Secret of the Unicorn.  I was afraid that the motion-capture would leave me cold like Polar Express and Beowulf but I didn’t mind it with this movie and the action scenes were superb.  2015 seems like a long way though.  :(
