For James Bond fans, one of the best parts of the release of a new film is hearing the new theme song. The introductory tune always sets the stage for the film to follow and has been a staple of the franchise since nearly the very beginning. About a year ago, UK pop singer Adele appeared on a talk show in which she admitted she was going to be heading into the studio to record "one song" and that would be "a theme." The host joked that it was the new Bond theme, and Adele quickly shut him down. Apparently, however, the host was exactly right. Total Film is now confirming that Adele will be singing the opening song for Sam Mendes' 'Skyfall.'This will be the first single for the singer since the release of her album "21."

I like this choice. Adele has a powerful, smooth, old-school crooner voice that will serve this historic franchise tremendously well. My hope is that they will give her a song that gets back to Bond theme basics, one that allows her voice to take center stage over potentially over-produced beats. This will be the first theme song of the Daniel Craig era to harbor the same title as the movie it's kicking off. This is of course not a requirement of the Bond songs, but it is interesting to note. I loved Chris Cornell's "You Know My Name" for 'Casino Royale.' It was not only energetic and catchy, but the title actually paid tribute to the series' reboot. "Another Way to Die," Jack White and Alica Keys' offering for 'Quantum of Solace,' had potential. I liked the beat and the title sounded like its own Bond story, but the combination of White and Keys' voices did not gel at all. Hopefully Adele's entry will be another win.

What do you guys think? Excited Adele will be singing the 'Skyfall' theme? What's your favorite theme from Bond past?

You know my name was absolutely fantastic. It totally got the whole theme and story of the movie into one song. Perfect perfect match for an amazing movie (Casino Royale).

I thought Another way to die was also nice. And this will probably be among the great Bond theme songs.

shes pretty good. Hate to sound like a hipster, but I saw a free @ noon show before she was famous. I think she's good for this gig because she's British. I also liked Jack White for QOS.
