In an attempt to bring in a more youthful audience the Academy Awards will be hosted by Anne Hathaway and James Franco.

It's expected that James Franco will be nominated for his role in 127 Hours which will add him to a list of very few hosts who were also nominees.

The same can also be said about Anne Hathaway and her role in Love & Other Drugs, but her nominations is considered a long shot.

Some are curious with the choice since this announcement came before the nominations it might skew the voting process a bit. Though it's unclear whether it will work in favor of the actors or not.

Either way we can be certain that the Academy will take full advantage of Anne Hathaway's singing chops and stage presence will be put into good use as well as James Franco's sense of humor and suave.

The Oscars will be held February 27th.

Times are changing and luckily the mentallity of today's youth doesn't seem to care about the celebrity actor anymore as previous generations, Sure Hathaway and Franco seem to be up there when it comes to popularity, but as for popularity itself in the film industry nobody cares as much. That and the oscars were always boring to begin and full of politics rather than reward. Plus both the online and reality celebrity/fame has been chewing the film/tv industry alive from their earnings that the only films the general public wants to see at an award show are real blockbusters and the most watched. Everything else is boring, even the red carpet. Even with cable tv, majority of us care more about what's going on with Dexter this season, who cares what wins best picture or lead, seriously it's all about Dexter lol.

Finnaly, Franco gets the respect he deserves.
It should have happened back when he was in Pineapple Express. Now that was an academy award worthy role.

I think the people don't watch the oscars is because they're so damn long. If only they could be like the emmys and just zip.

They should get Glenn Beck to host. That would really shake things up. And yes I'm just joking.

@Fungusmonkey Ye that's AWESOME for all of us non-USA people, where the Oscars don't air days later and the live show is at like 1 in the morning.
I'd prefer what came before with a Oscar Predictions and Results Show

That is true. But on the other hand, The Hurt Locker surprised the shit out of America. Probably because hardly anyone saw it. I feel ashamed too because I didn't see it in theatres and saw Avatar instead which to me story wise, is pretty average and nothing I haven't seen in Disney movies. Still a beautiful movie though.

Bitches, just hire Billy Crystal again, he was awesome. Or if you want to bring in the younger crowd, just hire Chris Rock or Eddie Izzard.
