@Fungusmonkey It sounds like you were expecting it to be a straight up horror film.  It's really a horror comedy and a deconstruction of horror movies and the horror genre in general.

I absolutely loved "The Cabin in the Woods" but I don't fault anyone for not being crazy about it.  I wasn't that much of a fan of Scott Pilgrim so I know the feeling.

Hilarious.  I jumped on youtube to check out that Turtle clip and found more than a handful Spillios commenting.  I can just imagine someone else stumbling across the clip and wondering what ACOCO is and who the heck is this Korey guy is.  That clip was pathetic.  I can't imagine having to watch the entire movie.

What's this 'Cabin in the Woods' movie everyone keeps talking about? Oh... you mean 'Deus Ex Machina: The Movie"? Yeah, it was maybe a High Rental... tops. And eventhat is ONLY if you really like Joss Whedon's dialogue and sensibilities. I was actually incredibly disappointed that Drew Goddard followed up something so awesomely conceived like Cloverfield with... this. The film spoils the "twist" in the opening credits, every possible bit of tension is immediately diffused by the B Story, the film contradicts itself constantly and is inconsistent in it's explanations, and literally every single thing that happens is explained away by some form of contrivance or another. I can't really get into it more without HEAVY spoilers, but maybe hopefully it'll come up in another podcast or something.
