In an audio movie review, you guys found Robert Zemeckis’ A Christmas Carol, (along with other of his motion capture movies) looking strange, comparing characters to “zombies” with “dead eyes”.

I agree with this opinion, but then I’m 45 years old: I thought the new Hulk looks very fake. I try to trick my brain into thinking that Iron Man and Gollum are real and not CG, just so I can enjoy the movies.

Do you think that we can’t accept motion capture and some CG as real or realistic on screen, because we are of a certain age? That this is so because we were weaned and fed on practical effects? And maybe younger people are growing up accepting these as realistic?

I’m not a big fan of Robert Zemeckis. But I think his endeavors in motion capture is something like exploring space, early exploration usually just gets you rocks and soil, the pay off may be in the far future. Maybe one day his motion capture characters may achieve life-like eyes and emotional depth, do you not agree?

why does Carlyle sound so quiet?

I love how nerdy Carlyle and his wife are! It's so cute, and it reminds me of me and my hubby. >./body>

If we're looking for celebs to appear at the next SPILLdotCON, I think we should try to pull in someone like Nathan Fillion - Austin's got a pretty decent Browncoat population. Frank Darabonte would be cool from a writer's perspective. (of course, I don't know that either of them would show up for money).

Or, on the flipside, it would be cool to pull in some more "Texas" talent - get the guys from RoosterTeeth to show up, grab some local bands or Austin favorites to play the afterparty, maybe see if we can get someone like Mike Judge, Richard Linklater, or Wes Anderson to show up. Really highlight this great state of ours.

I always wondered what Carlyle looked like in person, and I just saw him being interviewed for IFC news at a premier for Avatar (I think that is what it was).

Cralyle. I love the fact that you drank huge amounts of baileys a period of your life. I went two years where I only drank dooleys (it's kind of like baileys but with a caramel taste). It was awesome. I was young, drunk and crazy ever weekend with dooleys:) I also had the best hangovers ever. Mhm liquors with a milkey consistent.
