Confirmations on Iron Man 2 and Avengers movies

Marvel Studios has officially announced that Robert Downey Jr. will appear in The Avengers, as well as Iron Man 2, as part of his four-picture deal with the studio,

Jon Favreau is returning direct Iron Man 2 and will be an executive producer of The Avengers. After remaining silent for the last couple weeks Marvel finally confirmed that Don Cheadle will take over the role of "James Rhodes/ War Machine". Cheadle is also signed on to perform the same role in The Avengers and future installments of the Iron Man franchise...but so did Terrence Howard, so who knows what that means?

"We are very excited about working with the extraordinarily talented Don Cheadle as we expand the role of Rhodey in Iron Man 2," said Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios. "It has already become apparent as we prep the movie for production, that the dynamic between Robert and Don will take Iron Man 2 to new heights."

Marvel's description of The Avengers also mentions that the film will include "Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, the Hulk and more, as they are forced to band together to battle the biggest foe they've ever faced."

Iron Man 2 is scheduled for a May 7, 2010 release, with The Avengers on July 15, 2011.

"Meh. I still say you're never gonna see that Avengers movie".

Oh, let it go Leon.

If the Avengers will open on july 2011, that means the Captain America movie is going to be released in the early months of that year.

hahah I think the world will come to an end by 2011. How about *that* for a prediction? ;) After what happened with Harry Potter, there's no telling WHAT will happen in the next two years.
