New Ending for Watchmen Movie !!!

I was surfing the net and happened to come across this little article ...

According to a posting on /Film, fans are already in an uproar over the ending to Zack Snyder's Watchmen movie, which purportedly deviates from the original. Said deviation is rumored to replace Veidt's releasing of his "alien" squid on New York City with a new high point of action occuring when he builds a machine that Ozymandias uses to set off atomic explosions in cities around the globe. Die-hards don't seem to be taking the news well at all, but general response to the movie as a whole is still overwhelmingly positive. Additionally, most critics are noting that the new plot device does mesh well with the overall plot of the film. Check out /Film's original posting here

Well at least the critics are loving it, but honestly what next adding nipples to the Nite Owl suit...

oh crap..

i thought the point of the alien was that it couldn't be either the USSR or the USA who had done it, rallying them both in a time of worldwide crisis.

I don't see how this would work.

Before I heard this, I wasn't sure if I wanted to see the movie because I knew there were a few things that would be cut out, tweaked and fitted...

But...

Changing the ending like that is just... Ugh. Typical Hollywood.

Just DON'T FUCK THIS UP!!

I'm completely fine with the ending being changed, as long as the general message is maintained. I love the comic, but the giant squid monster always seemed pretty over the top to me.

If 2 million innocent people die at the end then I'm happy.

They realized they over estimated the audience and are trying for wider appeal.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought he was a fan, that he didn't want to change the story; what an A-HOLE TWO-FACED JACKASS SELLOUT! If this is true, then i'm not going to see the movie

Hey guys, how about we actually wait for the movie to come out before we review it, huh? Does that sound like a good concept?

Heroes used aliens? I don't remember that, but it has been a while since I saw heroes s1

the problem with the whole alien idea and nuke idea was that Heroes used the same plot device for their first season so snyder said he would try something different...oh well as long as the same theme of the film is the same I will have no problems with the release

I partially take my statement back, it actually could make sense. The way it is worded in this article is different than the wording in the source article. The source states that the machine would mimic Dr. Manahattan, so now he would be the villan instead of the alien forces. However I think this unnecessarily convolutes the story and Dr. Manhattan is going to have to be in on this. Even though this makes more sense than just setting off explosions, it still has problems because the people of earth already know who Dr. Manhattan is and what he is capable. No amount of cooperation is going to allow them to destroy Dr. Manhattan who is essentially God. People would just live in fear, of a being they all know is impossible to combat. The alien approach is better because people have no idea what it is, and they may be inclined to believe that they could beat it working as a team
