Michael Cera Wants to "QUIT ACTING!!!"

Well, it looks like it might be the end of Michael Cera. WoW, that was fast.

The young 20-year-old canuck is complaining, and might call it quits right after 9 years of his career. I just received my latest issue of EW (Entertainment Weekly), and has said why he wants to quit acting.

The Ontario native insists that he's taking the rest of the year off, and that he'll be thinking long and hard about wether he should put the breaks on his career.

He made his start as a professional actor at 9 year-old, working on a canadian television. But he's only recently discovered a truism about Hollywood:Being a bona fide is weird. "That aspect of the job is kind of new to me," he says, as polite, hesitant, endearing, and nervous in real life as he comes off on film.
"It's scary. And I know I didn't think about it when I was 9 Years-Old."

"I love Acting, and I love being on the set." But its the other stuff that comes with the job that's starting to get to him. Cera started to feel "vulnerable," he says, after Superbad grossed $121 million last summer. As his co-star Jonah Hill puts it, "One day things were normal for us, and then the next day the movie opened, and things kinda changed completely."

One year later, Cera still isn't comfortable with the paparazzi at red carpet events. "They're so aggressive and really mean" he says. Also with people eye-balling him on the streets."I was always self-conscious, and feeling like you're being looked at just amplifies that feeling-you get paranoid." he says. And also, with the haters who rag on him on the Web message boards. "People are Crazy"

Give me a moment to say some here...

NO SHIT!!! WHAT DID YOU THINK WAS GONNA HAPPEND AFTER SUPERBAD!?!?!? Should have quit when you had the chance. But too late.

Now, for the rest...

Cera knows people don't like to hear actors complaining about fame. "You get very little sympathy for it," he says."People can't relate, really."

"I wanna be myself still, and I don't think I need to toughen up. It'd be weird to be comfortable with [celebrity]. But I won't drive myself crazy or have a nervous breakdown. I'll just deal with it." he says.

First of all, let me say this wether you spillios like it or not...

There are thousands of struggling actors out there who are eating S#!T, being treated like S#!T, are told that they acting is too S#!TTY by casting directors, Their face being dumped in a pyle of S#!T, working in S#!TTY jobs with S#!TTY pay. And yet, this ungrateful, little bastard who lacks of charisma, and shows no emotion is complaining about fame. Seriously (And don't get me wrong, I do like the kid), did he not know the price he would have to pay once he succeeded fame and glamour with the success of "Superbad"? Fame just happens wether you like it or not. For those aspiring actors out there, if you can't deal with the $#!T that comes with it, then maybe Hollywood just isn't for you. Just stick with theater if you want to be an actor.

Even though he lacks a bit in his acting skills he, and with everything i just said here, it would really suck if he would quit for a stupid reason. But if we do get to see the end of Michael Cera, then it's too bad because I betted my friend that in the next five years he would be the next Jason Biggs...because he plays the same roles.

DAMN IT!!! I guess I lost.

Seriously, does anyone listen to what they post or do they just open up their mouth with no consideration of their words, thoughts, or point?

To me he sounds pretty smart and has his head on right as opposed to these masochist who allow this kind of treatment to be done to them for the sake of something as rewarding as the odds of the lottery. Actually even lottery players don't allow themselves to be put in a situation where they get shit on. You can't get shit on if you don't play. He doesn't OWE anyone anything because he is an actor. Get off his back. It takes a man to know when it's time to cool your gets and go home.

I thought you had to start acting to quit. He has never acted in his life. All he does is stand there and read a script. A trained monkey could replace him in every movie he's ever done. And nobody would notice the difference.

who ever wrote this article is an asshole. Seriously, let him do whatever he wants.

I can think of a number of actors and actresses who would benefit from leaving Hollywood. I just didn't think I would have to add Michael Cera to that list. I only seen him in Superbad, and I only saw bits and pieces of Juno. I think the kid does play the shy nerdy kid role because that's who he is in real life, but I guess the shtick can only carry you so far. Any guess on how long Jonah Hill will last?

But I do have to agree with you that his acting is emotionless, and it doesn't surprise me at all that you say he's the same in person. He doesn't act, he just appears in movies under different names. I'm sure he's a nice kid but yea maybe just not cut out for Hollywood. The real nuts and bolts of this whole thing though if you ask me is "What the hell is Hollywood's problem?"

Where did you learn to write, ThePecker13? By which I mean of course, your grammar, not your content. Anyway, about that content, I see your opinion but isn't that the obvious one? You know, I feel that you didn't even have to write it in order for it to have been understood. Your post itself is the supporting evidence for his announcement. A creative approach to covering this story, in other words, one with a point, might have been to try defending the other side.

why's everybody getting all pissed? it'd be one thing if it was another actor whose been in a bunch of movies and is complaining about it, but this dude has been in like three movies in the past several years. I don't think he's bitching about it, he seems to be more saying that the whole thing just isn't for him...

hey come on give Michael Cera a fucking break!! I can't understand why people hate Michael Cera so much. maybe it's the fact that my cousins, Cera and I all were born in the same city but i do see potential in him to see something different other than being a bumbling dork. so just drop it. please.
