If it's crap... We'll tell you

Many of you may remember many LEOG's ago, Leon mentioned that the Lucas people should have made their upcoming video game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed into a movie, instead of the glorified toy commerical that was Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Heck, Leon seemed to think that it would be be the best of all six films. Well, it looks like Leon just might get his wish. In a recent interview, Haden Blackman, the game's lead creator, expressed enthusiasm for the idea:

"Oh, that would be incredible, and it's not impossible. Never say never. George [Lucas] has looked to tell new 'Star Wars' stories through the games and with the entire Star Wars Expanded Universe, and then he has also shown a willingness to let the characters come into the films. Look at Aayla Secura, a creation in the [Dark Horse] comic books who became part of the theatrical films."

I'm with Leon on hoping this becomes a reality. Though I haven't played it, I've seen all the cutscenes of the game, and the story is great, like almost "The Empire Strikes Back" great. There was definately huge hype and demand for the game, even before it's release. And George Lucas seems very pleased with the game and it's story, so assuming he doesn't interfer too much, a film adaption could be amazing. Besides, the games already been adapted as a graphic novel and a regular novel, so it's clear that The Force Unleashed is already a multimedia project not confined to a video game.

On the downside, reviews for the game have been mixed at best. While most agree that the story is very good, many complain that the actual gameplay is very glitchy and frustrating. If that's true, it could affect game sales and hurt the chances of a film adaption.

Hopefully, the studios will look past this and take a chance on a Force Unleashed film. If made right, it has the potential to be everything the prequels should have been.

That would be sweet! I'm a big Star Wars fan!
My favorites in order:

3. Revenge Of The Sith 9.9/10
4. The Phantom Menace (screw you guys, I liked it!) - 9.7/10
5. Return of The Jedi - 9.5/10
6. Attack Of The Clone - 9.4/10

Well, Joshua, the sales have actually been fantastic and there have been louder murmurs of a movie adaptation. As long as Lucas funds it (NOT DIRECTS) it may be a good movie.

They wouldn't need to recast the film differently from the game... they could just use Sam Witmer again. The main thing, of course, is to get a different director than the prequels. :)

I agree this should have been the movie. I have not played the game but my friend who has beaten it says that in the story ( Spoiler) The apprentice is the man that starts the rebellion. That is a better story than the clone wars plus it links the trilogies together.
