If it's crap... We'll tell you

Since the summer movie season is over, and we're all back to school and shit , I felt it was appropritate to describe my favorite movies of summer 2008. If you care.

5. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

I just have to mention this: I cannot believe that I was alive for the release of a sequel to one of the most famous movie franchises of all time. A lot of my favorite movies, and their sequels were released before I was born. It definetly is not the best in the series, but I felt to many people compared it to "Raiders." Honestly, that just isn't fair because NOTHING compares to "Raiders."

However, it's still was an extremely enjoyble movie. There were many obstacles that had to be conquered; Indys age, and to 20 difference from the last one, but I thought they did a very good job. The cultures of this movie and the other ones are totally different, and they came up with a creative and relevent plot to the time period. I mean don't get me wrong it's not a perfect movie, and it is quite corny at parts, but it's INDIANA FREAKIN' JONES! It was never ment to be serious. It was always ment to be a homage to pulp adventure films. All in all, its was an entertaining and fun movie, and I enjoyed the hell out of it (Oh and if you don't consider May the "summer season then you can suck it).

4.Tropic Thunder.

I have a very specific sense of humor, and I have to say I have been very disappointed in the state of modern comedies. Sometimes it seems like their not even trying anymore(Good Luck Chuck). It's not because I'm a prude or anything, I don't care what YOU laugh at. I just have no control over what I think is funny. In my opinion "Superbad" is very overrated (that's right, I went there). After I saw this movie I felt that Hollywood had redeemed themselves. I laughed so hard for a huge majority of this movie and pretty much whenever RDJ opened his mouth, I was in tears. It was a very creative idea and I felt everybody gave their A game. Even the direction of it was very good. I saw it three times, and laughed just as hard as I did the first. I mean and it does get one of my philosophies across: DON'T TAKE YOURSELF SO SERIOUSLY, OR JUST DON'T TAKE THINGS SO SERIOUSLY IN GENERAL. I mean it's one of the funniest anti-hollywood movies (if you call it that) I have ever seen.

3. WALL-E

I will be the first to tell you that I am a huge Pixar fan. Almost everything they have done has been inpecible. They take animated movies to a whole different level. When they make movies they turn the genre into an art form, and this movie is a prime example. It is one of the most beautifully designed movies I have ever seen. The style of the movie isn't the only reason why it's good though, they took a pretty dark theme and suceeded at making, what I consider, one of the best animated "kids" movies of all time. The character WALL-E is very unique as well. This movie is both funny and sad at parts, but it's not sad for very long because everything is good in the end. It sends a message, not just about the enviornment (forgive me for the corniness) but about hope also. This movie is genius. Simple as that. They took a huge risk and it worked.

2. Iron Man

I will admit, I went into this movie knowing absolutely nothing about Iron Man. Just that the movie had a really good trailer and I wanted to see it. This was definetly the funnest movie of the year. Tony Starks wit is unquestionable, but it also explores serious elements as well. I was on the edge of my seat most of the movie and it turned one of Marvels more unknown heroes into something extremely memorable. I don't read the comics, but my uncle does and he told me RDJ's characterization of Tony Stark was "spot on." Despite being the playboy Tony Stark is, the emotional depth of his character comes across, almost organically. I'm not really going to get that far into this because all of you know(or should know) why this is a GREAT movie. I LOVED the hell out of this, and it brought the superhero genre to a whole new level.

1.The Dark knight.

I know, I know. Could I be less original? Truth be told not only is it the best movie of the summer, it's the best movie of the year. It is everything I could possibly want it a movie. Everybody gave some of the best performances of their careers, and it suceeded in creating some of the most memorable characters of all time. It was well worth the wait and it's definetly going down in cinematic history. I wasn't bored a second of this movie, and it's one of those rare movies that not only accomplishes that, but it's smart as well. It made me question my own sanity. Need I say more? Not really. This movie has been discussed over and over again, but you know what? It's well deserved.

I agree with everything on the list except Indy. Speed racer should be on there, not Indy.

While I agree with the rest of them, Indy 4 was the worst movie I have seen in awhile.
