Or not.
As you probably know, the Large Hadron Collider was activated today. People were freaking out, prophesying the end of the world and whatnot. I was having fun with those people, and spreading the word. To those people, I say this: This was just a trial run, where they ran the machine in one direction. Soon they'll test it in the other direction. Then they'll collide Hadrons, and that's when we're in trouble. We aren't in the clear yet, though I hear that Stephen Hawking himself has tried to reassure everyone that nothings going to go wrong and has even placed a 100 pound bet on the matter.
Theories regarding side-effects, for lack of a better term:
1: Black Hole- Basically we create a gravity well that devours everything you hold dear. Would take like four minutes to end the planet.
2: Gateway to an alternate dimension- Science creates a rift in the fabric of space time, and we gain access to a parallel dimension. While potentially awesome, we would have no idea what's on the other side. Did dinosaurs survive? Dis the south win the civil war? Did the Nazis win the world? Is everyone a ninja? Did Cthulhu awaken and claim the planet as his own? We wouldn't know, and it's just as likely to be something cool as it is to be something apocalyptic. Good odds that it'll be both though.
3:Success- This one was the work of myself and some of my associates. What if it goes as planned? It's meant to recreate the Big Bang, and that created a universe. So what if we make a micro-universe? It would evolve and advance at a much quicker rate, catch up to us, and eventually surpass our tech if man evolves due to it's much smaller size. If there's anything I've learned from cheap horror films, it's this: The smaller a society is, the faster it evolves. A subatomic society would catch up very quickly. Now, what if they think our scientists are gods? What if, when they surpass us, we use their tech to advance our own? Or alternatively, they rebel against their gods and enslave big humanity to their whim.
So, breif recap: No particles collided, so there's still a shot for things to go down wrong. See you on the other side!
