Concept art for the 'Green Lantern' movie

Illustrator Brian Murray has posted on his website several pre-production concept sketches that he created for the 'Green Lantern' movie which helped Greg Berlanti (creator of 'Everwood') land the gig as writer and possibly director.

Berlanti told The Hollywood Reporter: "To me, this was on the last great comic book movie that hasn’t been made. It was a comic book with a real mythology that you would see in a lot of the space operas and the sci-fi books. The best part about it, anybody can be become one of the Green Lanterns because anyone can end up with that ring.”

As you can clearly see, Berlanti has decided to go with the “classic” Hal Jordan, so there will be NO black Green Lantern for this movie.

It’s a real blow to guys like Common…and myself who were looking forward to being a role model to all the little African- Amercian boys out there and showing you bitches just how to sling a ring. :-(

…On the upside, it also means we no longer have to worry about seeing Jack BLACK in the role anymore either.

Always look for the silver lining, I guess.

There's really only one thing the other Green Lanterns have that Hal Jordan doesn't:
Personality.

The best thing about Hal Jordan was his haircut. Otherwise they wouldn't have killed him off or tried to retcon him as an alcoholic.

Stewart is in the books more often these days because of the Justice League and LJU cartoons. Not to say he's a bad character but those cartoons are why half the people who like him even fucking know who he is.

I like Kyle better because he's a comic nerd/artist. But Hal's the man. The current GL book's nuts, especially the "Origin" retelling stuff.

I haven't forgotten about Blade. His is still the one Black superhero on film to beat. Still wondering who they'll cast as Luke Cage and a possible Black Panther movie, too.

I actually agree with using Jordan. Not because he's cooler, GOD NO!. But the fact is, as a character he is far more fleshed out than the others, particularly with regards to origin. The others pretty much come in because he got the sniffles, according to the lame DC continuity. While Stewart as a character is by far superior, with regards to the origin story they need for this film, they would most likely have to adapt Jordan's origin, which would detract from Stewart as a character, and only really make fans miss Jordan.

Besides, as a serious treatment, I think it would be much cooler to see Jordan built up here to go Parallax in the sequel where Stewart could really shine.

Why the hell dont they give John Stewart a Year One anyway? I'd stick it in my pullbox.

And I for one think Jack Black would make a great Guy Gardner. He's certainly a big enough asshole.

Hey, I wanted Hal Jordan. They can bring Jon Stewart in the near future.
