Movie Extras Seek $11 Million from Tom Cruise

Source: IESB

According to IESB, twelve movie extras are seeking $11 million in damages from Tom Cruise and his production company after getting inured during the filming of WWII picture "Valkyrie" in Berlin last year. The extras suffered broken bones, cuts and bruises.

The extras were injured on August 19, 2007, when the side panel of a period German army truck burst open as it drove around a corner in central Berlin.

"A new letter has been sent to Tom Cruise, (business partner) Paula Wagner and United Artists, in which we set out the facts of the case again and put a figure on the legal demands of our clients ... of $11 million," said lawyer Ariane Bluttner.

TerryFTW, I think Brian Singer will stick to the source Material. It's not a Mel Gibson Movie. Otherwise we'd probably see Cruise actually taking out hitler along with half the German army

SeB, What is the reason then?? Just because you live in Berlin doesn't mean you have the final word on German movie gossip.

If this Tom Cruise movie flops when the day it is released, he's career could be finished.

Well don't production companies carry insurance riders for accidents like this?

Yeah, look guys it's not like he's CRAZY lately, sure he's been acting like he's itchy all the time lately, smiling erratically , having interviews with Opera in his PURE WOOD HOUSE WITH NO RUGS OR DECORATIONS, but he's not INSANE or anything... no no no, he's much better now.

11 million per person or 11 million altogether. If it's per person then it's waaaay too much. but altogether then that's a fair amount.

I mean they should get some compensation, but I think 11 million is excessive.

They're extras in a relatively big movie. The break a few bones, so what. I have broken stuff and it hurt an ungodly amount but not enough for about a million apiece. People just want to suck it from any orifice they can find, even if it's a wound.

As a regular extra myself, I say hell yeah! We get treated like crap most of the time. Falling out of an unsafe truck is pretty serious, and they should at least get some sort of compensation for going through crap like that.
