Transformers 2 Screenwriter Answers Some Questions

Source: Firstshowing

Screenwriter Roberto Orci has some answers to the many 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen' Questions.
Firstshowing has the article. Below is an excerpt though dealing with the difference in themes between the two films

"The first movie is all about the mystery and reveal of the Transformers as a concept and a species, which means we had to hide them a lot in the first hour. In the second movie, now that everyone believes in the universe, we can jump right into the world of the Transformers… The hardest aspect is that you lose the element of surprise. We got away with a lot in the first movies because for a long time, no one thought it would work, or that it was just a silly cartoon, and simply proving that wrong is all we had to do. The first movie was meant to be somewhat of a mystery. For the sequel, we need an entirely different structure and paradigm for the movie, and we can't rely on it being the first."

TRANSFORMERS was a VERY deep comic book as written by Simon Furman, too bad people only remember the very kiddie cartoon. There is a lot of depth to the original material about civil war and it's effects on individuals and society and their ethics.

The first film did a surprisingly good job turning the cartoons into sci-fi monsters for the real world. I can't wait to see what they do next.

as long as they focus more on the transformer than the crappy acting and heavy "join the army" overtones like the last then it will be a bunch of hot cars turning into to super cool robots battling it out which makes any movie awesome...and come on you didnt have to watch the show or even play with the toys to know car that turn into robots equals transformers so what were they hiding?

I'm all in all for a story with some elements of mystery or suspense, but then again there is that little voice inside of me that also cries "NAKED WOMEN, EXPLOSIONS!"

they could just say the theme song is going to be in this one and that would sell the movie

I agree with J Rod, Transformers wasn't even about the robots...
And Sesame Street dialog is way better than what came out of the all the characters mouth in this movie...
The hardest aspect was that you lose the element of surprise?? Transformers had "surprise" as an element? No it did NOT. it was about as cliche as a Micheal Bay film gets..

This is a typical hollywood movie($$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$), It has big Explosions, a hot girl, robots terring up shit and corny one liners.
and it doesn't go any further then that.

"Theme of Responsibility?" Sam being away in college is like the Transformers being far from Cybertron? I was surprised as any that the first movie was entertaining, but this sounds retarded. It's about a ROBOT CIVIL WAR!! If Bay tries to make a Transformer version of Platoon, this is going to look pretty silly. Dude, he's come a long way from the tight and thoughtful action of the Rock.
