Hi Everyone on Spill!
Just got some time so I wanted to talk about all the movies I have seen this summer, which many of them rocked! So here are my thoughts: Okay this summer was so good that I signed up for the movie cards at my local theaters, which I don’t normally do. By far the best movie of the summer according to popular opinion as well as my own is THE DARK KNIGHT! It was incredible!!!!! The action, the story, the acting!!! All of it! I usually don’t like thought provoking movies (since I like to relax in the theaters), but this was even thought provoking inside a great action flick! Ledger was incredible! As everyone knows! His take on the Joker will never be matched! He played it perfectly a habitual liar, crazy for the sake of chaos! The fact that he is a villain without any real goal except to create chaos is ingenious and really if you read criminal mind research is very dead on. Christian Bale is always great as Batman, I use to prefer Michael Keaton from the previous franchise, but I am switching to Bale now, he plays Bruce Wayne and Batman so well! I also like the change of Maggie Gyllenhal for Rachael Dawes, she plays her more of a woman, very sophisticated, driven, and emotionally connected. No offense Katie Holmes but Maggie nailed it!
o Best Scene: Too many to count, but I like action, so the bike sequence with Batman and the Joker and when the Joker sets fire to the money
Okay not to mention there were so many other great movies including Iron Man, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, The Incredible Hulk , and most recently Death Race!
- Iron Man: I loved it! Actors were funny in it and stuff blew up – VERY KEY! The story was great, fast paced and left you satisfied in the end – just like good sex. I loved the actors - Robert Downey Jr. was charismatic, funny, witty, a fun hero. He is a very likable wealthy man, and he is a genius who still loves to play with toys. Also my hats off to Gweneth Paltrow, I was really impressed with her in this movie. I am not a big fan of hers, but I really don’t tend to see a lot of the movies she is in. But in Iron Man she was witty; a down played behind the scenes beauty, and was more relatable than any other role I have seen her in.
o Best Scene: Of course when Iron Man returns to the town and kicks ass
- Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Okay I saw this movie five times in the theater and have pre-ordered the movie from amazon. I obviously LOVED IT! I am a big fan of all the Indiana Jones Movies, and this one is included in that! Okay forget the absolute hotness of Harrison Ford, I know it’s hard but try, but I like the story itself. Not so much the alien aspect, although I didn’t mind that, I really liked the instant family aspect and having Indy more in a fatherly role but still kicking-ass! Harrison was great as always! The fact he did his own stunts at his age is really a testament to how committed he is to his role as well as how much of an action hero he is in real life – fearless! He is also funny, clever and absolutely like a lovesick schoolboy with the character of Marion. Karen Allen – Thank you for coming back! She is funny, tough and by far the best counterpart for Indy. Marion challenges him and isn’t afraid of the action. Also I really liked Shia LaBeouf as Mutt – he is a great sidekick for Indy, and he is able to play off of him very well and was very likable. I didn’t really notice him until this movie, and yes Transformers is one of my favorite movies but come on I was too distracted by the kickass car - Bumblebee and all the robots to notice him – sorry Shia. However I did take a moment to look at some of my movies only to realize he is in a lot – and a very good young actor
o Best Scene: So many, but I liked the chase on the motorcycle and the going down the waterfalls was great
- The Incredible Hulk – The Incredible Hulk! The Incredible Hulk! Why didn’t more people see this movie! Are you people nuts! Well for those that did see it, you are smart! It’s not the pile of crap they did with The Hulk. This had great story, great action, and great actors!!! The story sticks more to the TV show, which I grew up on so I LOVE IT! The casting was great because I loved Edward Norton as Banner – he is a little geeky/ sexy so he pulls off the scientist part so well! Liv Tyler as Betty was great – she is smart, sexy, and doesn’t take any crap! And her scenes with the CGI Hulk are very well done, very believable!
o Best Scene: When the solider guy is hopped up on his army juice and challenges the Hulk and the Hulk kicks him into a tree – VERY COOL!
- Death Race: Okay not everyone’s cup of tea I know but if you like fast cars, explosions, driving, hot men, and hot chicks you will like this movie! The acting is not phenomenal, but it was fine for me. I liked seeing Tyrese Gibson as a bad ass in the can, he played that well! Also I heard his interview with Spill, and he seems like a very cool person!!! Jason Statham is great, I loved him in the Italian Job (Very Handsome Rob), and I love him again in this! Who knew going bald could look so good! Also Joan Allen gives a nice performance as a mean spirited warden – she plays bad very well! Not the best movie of the summer but it makes my list because it was highly enjoyable!
o Best Scene: When Frankenstein gets out of the car to exact his revenge on the prisoner that killed his wife – VERY COOL!
