Although he refuses to play the game, actor Mark Wahlberg said that being the man-himself in the film adaptation Max Payne is his "favorite role so far." In an interview with Total Film, he said:
"I was lucky to get through it, but it made me stronger and, I hope, wiser. I had a lot of demons to fight. Maybe that's why this character is my favourite role so far."
Wahlberg also talked about director John Moore's (Behind Enemy Lines) style. "[Moore] let me make the character much more than a one-note action tough guy," said Wahlberg. "[Max Payne]'s like a version of my character in The Departed - sly and cynical but also very funny."
Nabbing an academy award nomination for "Best Supporting Actor" in his role in The Departed, Wahlberg said that's the type of character viewers want out of him. Max Payne, also starring Mila Kunis and rapper Ludacris, is set to hit theaters this October 17, distributed by Twentieh Century-Fox. Check out an interview with Ms. Kunis during Comic-Con after the cut.
