On Nov. 18th, Sunday morning, Jonathan Rhys Meyers
(The Tudors, Velvet Goldmine) was stopped from boarding a flight at the Dublin, Ireland, airport when police confronted him twice over his abusive behavior at the desk of the British airline BMI. Dublin Airport Police called Ireland's national police force, the Garda Siochana, after Rhys Meyers refused several requests to calm down and was finally arrested. He's facing charges of public drunkenness and breach of the peace.
It was just back in April of this year that his rep made the public announcement that he was going to rehab:
"After a non-stop succession of filming, Jonathan Rhys Meyers has entered an alcohol-treatment program. He felt a break was needed to maintain his recovery."
At the time he made the statement that he would "never drink again". But his photo of him drinking a can of Strongbow Super© -- an alcoholic cider that is 7.5% alcohol- was taken on the afternoon of Nov. 20th.
Sounds to me like what he needed was a break between drinks to keep his liver from bulging out his puffy shirt.
The big question I have is: How much do you have to drink to arrested for being drunk in IRELAND???
