Dear Eifel Surifaryu. My thoughts on your review.

I must say that I do respect your opinion and your right to dish it out.
And I must agree; The Dark Knight is not the son of God - given to us to enlighten and deliver us from what film once was.

Nolan does shoot his fight scenes too tight.
But it works.

Why the hell DOES Batman shoot and blow up cars down the streets of Gotham while chasing The Joker? Does being a masked vigilante for the people give him the right to endanger the people he swore to protect?

No but that's okay, why?

The suspension of disbelief.

There is a reason why this film was made Eifel - to entertain.

It's as simple as that.
And what did it do?
Just that - entertain.

But not only did it do that but it also gave us a glimpse of the psyche of a lunatic who has absolutely no control over himself and the things he does, a man who has lost it all in a blink of an eye and has been pushed beyond the point of no return and a man who feels that all of this chaos is the product of him just being - existing.

All three are different men physically and through their actions but when looking into their minds - they are quite the same.

My good sir, what did you expect from a summer blockbuster?
Shakespeare in the park?

I personally think we all got more than our moneys worth.

And yes, yes.
Go on about your artsy indie films that a lot of us won't see.
I'm sure they're fantastic.
I'm positive that I'll love em BUT I haven't seen those films.

We all paid our way into a mainstream, summer blockbuster, comic adaptation and as that...It was superb.
And gave us more than that.
And I'm thankful for just that.

Since I've joined the Spill community I've kept my finger on the pulse of films that have been released this year more than ever and I have to say...out of all the films released this year; The Dark Knight carries the torch - for now.

The year isn't over.

The Dark Knight set a bar for itself. Made its own goal if you will and it made that goal and proceeded to go further.

Take it for what it is.
And enjoy it.
Its just a movie.
