Indiana Jones and the Preposterous Expectations of Doom

*Spoilers* Now that our dear professor is so old now that he probably views sex as an annoyance rather than an opprotunity, it appears to be that many people are outraged at Indiana's most recent outing in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls.

The most outright complaint is that some infer the implausibility of Indiana's stunts performed in the movie such as surviving a nuclear blast in a fridge or managing to still be alive after his boat seemingly falls not once, but THREE times down waterfalls and comes out unscathed. Let me be gentle about this. These movie plots and stunts began with the first movie about a golden box made by god that burned off people's faces. What kind of fucking plausibility do you think exists in the magical universe of treasure and adventure? It's suppose to be over-the-top and crazy because it is an adventure movie. It's not The Departed nor is it The Bourne Identity, it's just not and you have to accept this fact that Spielberg and Lucas made these sort of movies to allow the viewer to enjoy the craziness of these adventures. So when you start to complain and bitch about vine-swinging Shia LaBeouf, just remember where this entire series is coming from.

The next whine comes from the aspect of the CG. The gopher scene was just meant for comedy, not to impress the audience like ILM did with Transformers. Some have also complained about the unbelievable relationship between Indy and Marion as the quickly got back together after being apart for so long. Does anyone remember that that was the same exact relationship evolution they both had back in Raiders of the Lost Ark where at one moment she hates Indy for ruining her young life and burning down her bar, and then the next moment they're love birds, so if you did not believe that their relationship in Crystal skull was believable, then there is no way in hell that you could have believed that the relationship in Raiders was natural either; granted, both relationships in those movies could never actually happen, so both are pretty unbelievable.

Let me get this next part out of the way, I do not think that Shia LaBeouf is an outstanding actor. In some of the interviews he comes off as a bit cocky and lacks the charisma of some other actors. That being said, I loved him in this movie and thought that the chemistry between him and Harrison Ford was great, almost as great as the relationship between Harrison Ford and Sean Connery.

And finally, although I did feel that the ending was just a tiny bit anti-climactic, I felt it really captured a great ending for the Indiana Jones series.

I guess what i'm trying to get at is that I believe that the new Jones movie captured the spirit and adventure of the film series and ended the saga with a bang. And if you disagree with my opinion, i'll hunt you down like the dog you are.
