Oh i heard the rumors. About how they wouldn't do a private screening which means the movie sucks. But i had so much faith in M. Night Shyamalan, i wanted to give him a chance..and he let me down. I thought if i saw it before the Spill Crew could review it, it would be so much better, maybe me seeing it first would change the outcome. How wrong i was.
The Happening is a Green Movie, it lets you know that nature isn't going to take this crap. Rattlesnakes bite you when you f**k with them, well trees, grass, and bushes release their toxins that make you take yourself out. I must admit i liked the premise of the movie, which was basically: if we continue with global warming we literally will end up killing ourselves, but i think it would have been better money spent having my buddy rent it and watching it that way.
The only good part was the way people offed themselves. The effects were awesome. There are definatley some things that will be burned into my memory, and oh there's a jump scare, but the characters in the movie...kind of felt the same way about them as when i watched AVP Requirm. No Pity. Yeah some things were kinda sad, but i didn't feel very connected to anybody. Mark Wahlberg's story line with his woman is really confusing and poorly developed. There was this one scene where Wahlberg was stuck in this crazy lady's house and his wife and the little girl are out in the slave house and they're stuck in there because they don't want to get killed by the wind (yes people they were running from the wind, i laughed at that scene) and there was this pipe connected to the two houses and he was talking to her saying how he didn't want to die without her. If he was going to die he'd rather be with her and he gets out and starts walking over; i rolled my eyes. Then she and the kid walk out into the deadly breeze. Damn woman kill yourself not the kid too, thats f**ked up. And Wahlberg's character is a lil biatch, he has no balls. He was whispering through out the movie. "What's going on?" "Why?" "It has to be the plants", "I'm talking to the plant" well that last one was funny, but still i was waiting for his balls to drop and for him to become a man! I love Wahlberg, but i felt let down.
I wanted the wife Alma Moore(played by Zooey Deschanel) to die. Her big blue eyes freaked me out, she acted like she was on crack the whole time and the dad did not want her watching his daughter. Once again the history of the characters wasn't developed that well, but you can tell a crack head when you seen one. She has creepy eyes too, and she would stare into the camera with them, so disturbing. Truthfully i wanted the trees to whisper in her ear and kill her off. He needed a new woman anyways. Kids are not sacred in this movie either. Some of these kids, man, get some caps busted in they ass cause they try to get in this occupied house. My question is what would the babies do if the trees spoke to them? Did they leave the kids alone? How would they kill themselves? OOHHH CRREEpppy.
I was rooting for the people to die, because they were so creative with it. And i admit i did like the end and the message. I'm just pissed i spent $10.50 on it instead of $5. Now that was some bull.
