Since this is a film review website, I'll start with that. I gave Indiana Jones a 7/10. It was adventurous and quite frankly, typical Indiana Jones-ish. I was impressed that Harrison Ford pretty much looked the same, barring the gray hair. The action was satisfying, but no more dramatic the the Indiana Jones flims that came before it. It really did remind me, excuse me, I mean, National Treasure truly did rip off Indiana Jones. Anyway...I am still yet to see The Forbidden Kingdom (I'm REALLY behind, I know....but I did see IronMan twice, and that should count for something!). Lets see, since I'm a woman I must at least comment as to why I will not be going to see Sex in the City....besides the fact that I was never a big fan of the show....I honestly just think of the show and the movie as glorified whoring, which RARELY display the consequences of it, or plays down the consequences.
So, I had a Memorial Day get together/cookout. It was awesome. Approximately 30 people showed up. I was truly expecting half as many. We played spades, listened to music, played tabu, had great conversations and a great time in general.
The best part of it for me (excluding the people) was that I got to try out my new smoker. I would consider myself somewhat of a barbeque/grilling enthusiast. I already own a large gas grill and a large charcoal grill, but I wanted to try my hand at smoking and bought a Brinkmann vertical smoker. I found an article on the internet on how to convert it so that it could burn propane, so you would not have to tend the fire as frequently. After drilling a few holes into the frame, I attached a turkey fryer cast burner to the bottom of it and screwed a propane attachment hose with a regulator to the back and Voila! It worked! The chicken turned out awesome and I didn't blow myself up! I can't wait to try smoking some fish or brisket.
So, l finally finished cutting my grass today because it was beginning to look like some remote part of Africa. It was so tall I was afraid there may be some snake(s) hiding in it. Luckily there weren't. Thats the most exercise I've gotten all month. I need to buy a weedwhacker. I've been in this really "handy" home-improvement type mood lately. Although, I almost lost my mind trying to put up one of those curved shower rods. It truly is a two person job, but I had to do it solo, so it was pretty frustrating, but I did it.
Other than the yardwork, today was pretty relaxing. I woke up, went to the lake downtown and fed the swans, pigeons, and ibises. Then I went fishing. I caught a bunch of baby fish. Anyone got any surefire tips on how to catch a bass from a dock? I don't have a boat and refuse to go close to the shore (we have a ton of gators). I caught a baby bass 2 weeks ago....so I'm a little closer to my goal than I was, but any tips would be appreciated.
Well, I'm tired and hungry. I think I want a big juicy steak. Have a great evening and thanks for reading.
