First Look: "Land of the Lost's'' Sleeeessssssssstaks

You probably gota be alot older than the average Spill member to have seen the Sid & Marty Kroft Saturday morning adventure series 'Land of the Lost' , let alone the evil, single hornred dinosaur men known as the Sleestaks. But you can expect to see the latest evolution of them chasing after Will Ferrell in a big-screen remake of the 'Land of Lost' TV show.

In the '70s TV show, they were guys in lime-green pajamas — and looked it. The Sleestak are much sleeker now, but the film is largely a comedy, so the guy-in-a-suit look has its charms, director Silberling says. "There is a sense of humor that I loved from the original show that can only come from an actor trying to negotiate the suit. If it became CG, they'd be too perfect. For the Sleestak to remain in people's memories, it tells you that it was about who was in the suit."

One difference: Instead of toting crossbows, the Sleestak draw quills from their spines and fire them like arrows.

The plot involves three adults (not a dad and two kids as on TV) accidentally thrust into a realm ruled by dinosaurs, monkey-men called Pakuni and the murderous Sleestak. Will Ferrell's character and his two companionsare hoping a giant crystal will return them to their own dimension.

Am I the only one that remembers Land of the Lost with a family, a cavewoman, a baby dinosaur, and sleestaks as dino-men with a crystal sword of some kind? Or am I thinking of a different Land of the Lost show?

I have an old episode on tape of the original. But, wasn't there a remake in the 90s?

The originals did not have have much... uh... mandible articulation.

What Will is not doing another sports movie!!!!!!!!!!! This sparks some kind eyebrow raise. I do admit I am looking forward to the Stepbrother movie he is doing with John C. Reilly. Lets call it a guilty pleasure.

It's just... The... Damn! They didn't improve the lizard dudes! I know they're trying to make them look like the show, but man.

By the way, I loved the show.

I used to watch this all the time as a kid through seasons 1 and 2
Should be interesting to see the updated version/movie.
