I'm sure some of you may have heard by now that Edward Norton, who will be playing Bruce Banner/HULK, is having issues with Marvel Studios over the final cut of "The Incredible Hulk."

It seems that Marvel studios had promised Edward Norton the world when he got involved with the picture and now the studio is paying for it. Now, for those of you who don't know, Edward Norton apparently did a rewrite on the original Zack Penn "writer of X-Men 3" Hulk script. Now it looks like Ed also wants to have final say on the final cut of the picture. On top of that, the trailer that was just released was cut by Edward Norton himself.

Now, I'm not too sure here who is the real bad guy. I do admire Edward Norton for being so dedicated for wanting a movie like "The Incredible Hulk" to be great. But it's another issue if it's just one big ego trip and he's just screaming to daddy, "LOOK WHAT I DID!" I guess that's for the real people who work behind the scenes to know and not us. But hey, it makes for a good story. So here. Read it for yourself and make your own judgements.

The Incredible Hulk trailer is on its way. It debuts Wednesday night at 9:56 pm on all the MTV channels and Spike TV and VH1. It gets shown Thursday at ShoWest. And it plays this weekend in front of Universal pics in the theaters. (But it's also being teased on YouTube now.) I'm told the pic's producer-screenwriter-star Edward Norton helped get the trailer ready last week and loves it.

But does he also love the movie? Not yet.

I'm told that's because Norton and Marvel are clashing over how to cut the pic. Insiders say Norton was "promised tremendous involvement and access" after Marvel invited him into the core team to rewrite Zak Penn's script. Says one insider, "There's a lot of posturing going on between Edward's camp and Marvel over how you edit the final

version." Sources also tell me that, starting last night and continuing at least throughout today, the actor will be holed up with Marvel Studios chairman David Maisel, Marvel Studios president of production Kevin Feige, and director Louis Leterrier to try to "reach an amicable resolution" to this $150+ million film feud.

Some insiders blame Marvel for not accepting Norton's POV about the movie. "There's a problem. Marvel won't listen to Norton about the cut," one source claims. But Norton has bonafides: he did that uncredited rewrite of Frida for his then girlfriend Selma Hayek and made his directorial debut on Keeping the Faith.

Some blame Norton, known to be prickly. Remember his problems with Paramount over The Italian Job and with director Tony Kaye over American History X? "Never let an actor write a script," one insider commented. "Marvel made a mistake letting the wolf into the hen house."

But I say that, after Ang Lee's troubled The Hulk left audiences cold, The Incredible Hulk needs Edward Norton's warm support if the pic's gonna have any street cred. Some fear things blowing up to the point where Norton might not publicize the movie. And Marvel is petrified that the new Hulk may be judged "prematurely and unfairly." (Or that bloggers will start claiming the Hulk franchise is cursed.)

Right now, Marvel is said to be about 4 to 5 weeks away from locking the movie for its June 13th release by Universal whose top execs haven't yet seen it ("though some marketing guys have been working off a rough cut that's in pretty good shape," I'm told). "At this stage you always have discussions about what's in the film and what's not going to be in the film. Everyone's very passionate, and Edward is very opinionated." Said another source, "There is a very healthy exchange of ideas going on. Discussions now are even more heated. But some of Ed's best movies have had this exact dynamic to them. Everyone's in the process of figuring it out and working it out. But I expect it'll all get resolved pretty quickly."

There you go! Is Edward Norton a cry baby? or is Marvel Studios just stupid? And hey? Where the hell is Louis Leterrier, director of "The Incredible Hulk" ? Oh...he's doing commentary on the new trailer and wants you to know that the fake looking fx aren't finished yet. Wooh...what a relief!
You can read what he has to say HERE.

Well Hulk fans, whatever ends up happening in the end, I hope the day never comes when you have
to tell you're friend, "Gee, Ang Lee's Hulk now looks like a masterpiece compared to this new version. Life sucks."

It will be a sad day indeed. Oh. And kiss your Avengers movie goodbye!

That would be a sad sad day indeed. I have a strange fixation with the Ang version, like I can pick a good movie out of the sum of its parts or something. So many beautifully shot scenes and great ideas...how how how could it have been so...bleh?

Trailer has me worried. Maybe Hulk just belongs in an Avengers movie as a supporting character, I mean, what are the real franchise possibilities? Hulk 2 and Hulk The Third would be about what? I mean, how interesting can the plots be if the payoff for every action scene is Hulk smashing shit up, I mean its not like Spidey where he's able to use his powers subtly throughout. Would the climax of the third movie just be him fighting...what, Unicron? He should have been used in the Ultimates-influenced Avengers movie as a frightening weapon of last resort. Then he might be more interesting. And they could have gotten Buscemi to play bruce.

I'm glad he really wants to make sure the movie is good. He knows his ass is on the line. The studio should trust someone with actually talent.

I am a simple man and Hulk Smash is good enough for me. Nevertheless, i hope Norton doesnt make it so smashing is the only good thing about the film.

Why is it that we need yet another rendition of the Hulk? Haven't we been down this road before?

Can't this all be solved with Edward Norton's cut being on the DVD. The could even release a special Edition with Norton's cut.

Hell isn't the DVD/Blu-Ray where all the money is anyway.

I'd like to see Edward's vision above that of Marvel's. Decision's-by-committee tend to be more diasterous more often than that of one vision. Marvel will have plenty of options after the Hulk movie to have their final say on.
Besides, if it doesn't turn out that well, at least we'll all know who to, specifically to point the blame at.

We all hope it's good.

I didn't care about this movie at all until I heard that Edward Norton signed on. The editing process is a long boring task but sadly it is probably the most important piece of film making. Not really sure who I should side with on this feud. Usually when a writer cuts a movie, the film runs longer, leaving in more unnecessary scenes that prevent the plot from moving on. But I don't trust Marvel heads either. The Directors Cut of Daredevil was bad, but the theatrical cut was 10x worse.

I hope its good. I really hope the Robert Downey Jr cameo is true.
