I went to see D-War with a friend of mine, actually it was with Co-host 3000, and we both came out of it actually impressed with the special effects and action shown in this movie. While the movie was a terribly directed, terribly acted, and terribly written film, it surprised me with the CG and action that was greatly executed in the movie. If you liked the battle scenes in LORD OF THE RINGS, with the dragons, goblins, and trolls tangling with the last of mankind, then you will be equally astonished by the city scene between the dragon's army going up against modern warfare machinery. The special effects by no means looked crappy like the cheesy movies shown on the Sci-Fi channel but it showed that there was money and detail that was carefully spent on it. The movie by no means a work of art, but you will enjoy the movie just for the action and CG alone. I equate this to watching a Godzilla movie. Yeah, you're not there to take in the banter of the Japanese gentry, but to see some kickass fight scene between Godzilla and whoever he is fighting that day. I agree with Korey that it is a rental, but more or so, I might give it a low matinee rating.
