If it's crap... We'll tell you

ezekiel 25:17

Who will watch the Watchmen.........apparently ME

Right off the bat.....I am not an avid comic book reader
I know that...it is not a very savvy thing to claim in front of Spillies
We have lot of comic admirers like our Mount rushmoric-figures and you guys

But I know of two comic books that I have read
1st is Frank Miller's sin city
TO HELL AND BACK
I read it just coz of the character Wallace
And the other one I have read is, as you have guessed, Alan Moore's WATCHMEN

And now Zack Snyder(300, Dawn of the dead) is adapting it
HOLY SACRILEGE........Right but I give Snyder the reasonable doubts
regarded 300 was a visual masterpiece as opposed to its visceral stupidity.
it had attitude of "who cares what I say when I look this gooooooood (yeah, you are supposed to say goooooooood)"
But the material WAS 300 spartans fighting mindlessly and gayly against millions of persians
how stupid is that.....instead of focussing on their sacrifice and fear, the film was focussed on the mindless slow-mos and looking good while doing it
I mean the name itself is 300 I mean how lame is that

I am not rallying against 300, I loved the movie for whatever it was
Entertainment at its best.
I decry everybody who gets offended with this movie...putting too much thought in a movie for their selfish propagandas
while the movie aims just for a descend box office return while giving us a visual stimulus of a lifetime

But now WATCHMEN is a whole another subject
Watchmen is a thinking man's shit
It is a philosophical examination of our invisible fears.
It is a STATEMENT
I can't even think of anything more to write
even its title for god's sake
WATCHMEN....just the title is deep enough to give you the feel of what this movie can extend up to

Snyder can go mindless Michael Bay-ish summer drone of blood, guts and violence.....he will get enough incentive in that direction
or he can make what WATCHMEN was all about...what Alan Moore made it all about.

Talking about Alan Moore...Yeah he isn't backing the film as far as I have been informed
But towards the release date studio might pull some $trings to make Moore say he is in support of Snyder's effort or it will be his love of WATCHMEN
But as of now, NO...probably because of the development hell the film has been in since the acquisition of its filming right in 1986

This development itself isn't going as great as you would think
this type of material hasn't attracted the stars you would think it would, it has budget issues as reported for its Mars scene, probably the most trickiest scenes to pull off in a film and Alan moore's uncrediting
But I am willing to give Snyder a chance....
For now we can just wait upto 03.06.09

I will be waiting for the movie and If he pulls off the Mars scenes(only the most important scene in my opinion) I will bow down to him

Don't read too much into Moore's lack of support. He's a cranky old man who would do the same thing if Hitchcock came back from the dead and wanted to direct one of his works. He's no friend of Hollywood.

As to Snyder, although I was not a drooling fanboy for 300 like some (it was ok) I admit that the source material was pretty visceral itself and that Snyder's choice of style for the movie wasn't entirely inappropriate. It's hard for me to say, therefore he will make Watchmen shallow and glossy, because of that. We'll see, but I've always been of the opinion that Watchmen was essentially unfilmable.

That is very true
but do you really think
the studio will give Snyder the freedom to operate
and the budget as Peter Jackson was given.....
.......oh No way
But i guess in the time
span of present elongated films
many set pieces can be established
but i stii think it isn't enough for this material
even with the Black Freighter part cut out

That is one brutally awesome scene
I also think the film is going to be too long
Terry Gilliam wanted to film it as an five hour miniseries that would have been great except not as popular with regular audiences but scrouging everything to one film may definitely cause this film to lack what the comic had
I mean those who read the book will have idea but everyday moviegoing audiences will have no clue

This film will be awsome, sure it'll be long but I will watch it just for any scenes with Rorschach, I'm rooting for the scene in the bar where he breaks the guys fingers.

I just want to know what movies people have seen, or have a great example, where despite "winning" at the end of the movie the protagonist still ends up screwed, gets a sort of F--- U from the movie or/and still ends up in a worse situation despit...
