If it's crap... We'll tell you

What's up ppl?

Most probably nobody gives a crap about anything that I will say or shall I say, type, anyway, I'll try to only convey my frustrations that could be seen as good topics of discussion, or the ones that I ultimately think that are worth mentioning. And so I'll start off with a depressing tone and here's an example.
I'm turning 20 in two weeks and I'm sitting here ready to type stuff like it meant something. Yay. Now what this makes me think is that 10 years ago I was 10. Dah. And while a lot has changed, actually in terms of entertainment I kinda feel like we, media dependent people, are getting more of the same in a whole new package as if there's nothing left to improve or reinvent, it's just like everything we got is an enormous recycling of stuff you've seen, stuff you've played and stuff you've heard and don't even get me started on tv and these whole new trends of being a moron nowadays.

I think back to when I was 10 and back then, what was I doing? I was playing a whole lot of Doom, some beat em up and fighting games, watching anime, and sci fi movies in a quite healthy (or unhealthy depending on the view) dosage. And I'll tell you what i'm doing now, I'm doing, for all intents and purposes, the same shit. I tell you what was diferent back then, people didn't seem to be so retarded as they seem now, mtv seems to play a huge role on that whole people attitudes department, and Internet wasn't as pivotal in some ppl routines as it is now . Okay, now aside the technological advances which could only be expected, why does everything seems kinda stale now? We still look at old movies as the role models for new movies, and the same deal applies to the rest. If you think of it, most of the movies some of you may get you excited about, are sequels or remakes of stuff you grew up watching. Of course that it isn't as gloomy as I may be trying to make it sound but really, since the late 80's it seems that nothing seems to thread on new ground, and we all get excited when we hear about some revamp of this and that which will ultimately not live up to our expectations in most of the cases.

The 80's pretty much defined what the next 20 years in cinema would be like, except that now movies should like have learned something in these 20 years that have passed, we've got the tech and there's practically nothing that can't be done nowadays. Guess I was wrong. Remember in the 80's ppl remaking films of the 70's or 60's? Of course not. Why? Cause back in those days Cinema was always reinventing itself and evolving with the passing of the years. To some extent movies are kinda better now and yet they're not. Don't you miss when Jurassic Park or Terminator 2 wowed you? Or Doom? It was like what was good was really good and what was crap was really crappy. Now it's kinda like everything is on the same level except there's some stuff that is a bit better and some stuff that is a bit worse so you can hold on while you're waitng to something make you really go WOW again. And why is that since the 80's we don't get a really good Aliens or Predator movie? Why are still playing the same fps over and over again? Why does almost nothing fufill the greatness of those days? I'll even go and say, wasn't that time a much better time to be into movies and other stuff?
Or could it be that I've grown up? Am I trying to see the color that doesn't exist now?

Random example now for something more recent, I remember when I played the first DMC on the ps2. And that was in 2001 if I can recall. Now 7 years later we get DMC4 on next gen systems. Does it seem that different to you considering that it is an almost 10 y\o franchise? 10 years ago I was playing Half Life. Now i'm playing Half-Life 2. 10 years ago there was System Shock. Now there's Bioshock. 10 years ago we were watching Alien Resurrection, now we're watching AVP-R. 10 years ago I was collecting Spawn figures. Now I'm still collecting Spawn figures. 10 years ago we were wowed by The Matrix. Now everything is so bullet-timeish. 10 years ago you were watching Evangelion, and now there's this whole anime pedophile trend with school girls fighting each other. And the list goes on and on. It's like not only it got kinda stale, to a degree some things managed to get worse. And to add salt to the injury everytime you revisit those old time favorite classics, they grow wiery as well.

These past 10 years kinda went quickly cause all in all, everything got stagnant. Which made it a little painful maybe, yet is kinda like nothing really new happened in entertainment so we tend to wipe it out of our memories cause it was a decade devoid of anything really refreshing. Or is it just me? Is this some sort of aging crisis or an obsession for nostalgia? Maybe I'm just spoiled and there's already too much, and whatever I'm waiting for to give me that extra spice in my routine or getting my interest isn't here at all.
Or just maybe I didn't yet realize that the whole fun of being into these things is some sort of platonic love with some masochism thrown in for good measure so everytime i go "yawn" it seems like it is important in any way.

Sayonara for now and on a side note,
I'll laugh my ass off if after writing this much no one replies.
