2008, A Good or Bad year for movies?

I think it's imposible to determine whether a certain year was bad or good for movies because every year we get a handful of great movies, but 2008 was the year of the comic book films, in 2008 We got Ironman, The Incredible Hulk, The Dark Knight, Hellboy II The Golden Army and Punisher War Zone, We've had one of the greatest animated movies of all time WALL E and one of the greatest Dreamworks animation movies of all time, Kung Fu Panda, but we've also got some animated movies that werent so good like Horton Hears A Who, We've also got alot of useless sequels like Madagascar 2, but that's what you come to expect out of Hollywood these days, but off course we've got dozens of stupid comedies.

I do think this year had great movies, The Dark Knight made my top 20 favorite films of all time for being a very well made film, but I just feel like I havent watched any serious films these year, but that's probably because I havent got the chance to watch movies like The Wrestler, Slumdog Millionaire, Curious Case of Benjamin Button and a few foriegn films, but I don't know, I mean 2007 had these movies that were soo good and were so original like No Country For Old Men and There Will Be Blood, but this year, I don't know, I don't like there's a lot of films like that, but I guess if I want films like that I should really be looking for some foriegn or independant films

So I was wondering if you guys could give me some reccomendations, and I hope you guys don't think that I'm saying that '08 was a bad year for movies, no it was a good year, I mean like I said, we got a lot of good movies, but they're werent anything that could really play on your emotions.

Aley: I expect it to be one of Apatow-type comedies that are a breath of fresh air from all the stupid comedies you get from Sandler and Ferral.

Inkovic: Like I said, It's a good year, we definatly got a lot of good Super Hero films and '07 was a bad year for Superhero films, Spider Man 3 was fine in my opinion and Fantastic 4 was terrible, The Dark Knight, Iron man and The Incredible Hulk are all great films, but I'm looking for something more, also, I wouldn't say '08 was a lot better than '07. Both year had great films, '08 had films like The Dark Knight, Iron Man and WALL E but '07 had movies like No Country For Old Men, There Will Be Blood, The Simpsons Movie,

Fantastic year, blows 2007 out of the water. The top 20 films of this year were all spectacular.
In a normal year The Hulk would've been the best superhero flick but Ironman and TDK blew it out of the water. Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Tropic Thunder were some of the best comedies I've ever seen. Slumdog and Let the Right one In were spectacular films in a foreign setting...

2008 was the best genre film year since the 80's which the summer provided film after film of exhilarating excitement. Not to mention the films out currently for Oscar season which are all fantastic.
