Much ado has been made of the upcoming reboot of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Fans have balked at nearly every announcement to hit the web so far. The fact that Michael Bay is producing didn't earn the project a great deal of cache, nor did the proposed story element revolving around the turtles being aliens. Bay making an official statement in which he mentioned that "fans need to chill" didn't exactly calm the waters. Today's news may incite a similar tempest. It seems that Bay himself has made it public on his blog that Megan Fox is coming aboard the project, and the word is that she will be playing none other than reporter, and turtle ally, April O'Neil. This news is especially surprising considering the feud between Bay and Fox that brewed after 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.' Apparently the hiring of Jonathan Liebesman as director went a long way toward this reconciliation. As of right now, 'Ninja Turtles' is set for a May 16th, 2014 release.

Oh boy, they really don't want anyone to get excited about this reboot, do they? Full disclosure, The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were a huge part of my childhood, and sure, I'd like to see a quality reboot for the sake of nostalgia. But the consternation I feel toward this project is not so much a fanboy outrage, as Bay seems to think is everyone's problem with the movie, but instead caused by an apparent aversion to making a single wise decision for ensuring a decent film in general. Take out the fact that she's playing April O'Neil, a role she is completely ill-suited for, generally speaking what movie has ever been improved one iota by her presence? I thought, at the very least, the fact that they were feuding would spare us from Fox showing up at all, much less take the female lead. Once again, it's not just that she's wrong for this part, it's that she's wrong for any part. This further bodes ill for the reboot; hopefully good news, any good news, is on the horizon.

What do you guys think? Am I being too hard on Fox? Anyone want to defend her as a viable choice for April O'Neil?

So, if Megan Fox is playing April O'Neil do we have to expect that Shia LeBouf is going to play Casey Jones?

Seriously, I lost hope for this film being good since the day it was announced that Michael Bay was in charge. I feel sorry for anybody who is a fan of this series, because this is just an insult and they have every right to be pissed.

"What do you guys think? Am I being too hard on Fox?"

I see what you did there...   perv,....

She is too 'hotty' to play that part,..unless this is the porn version of Teenage Minor Ninja Tits.

Get someone more down to earth ,..maybe Amy Adams.  /shrug

It seems Megan's only range is playing the sexy/slutty/porno-fantasy girl next door. I'm 100% positive that's all she'll be in this.

why Bay? WHY!!?? Its obvious that Bay simply loves doing whatever the hell he wants, great, do that, but do that with an original franchise. Why does he have to shit on what people love??

Un-effing-believable! Is Michael Bay not done destroying every cherished movie franchise he can get his hands on? Is this ALL this guy can do? His movies are freakin' embarrassingly ridiculous, and it's clear his mind is so "one-track" that he can't even cast different actors! Not that I was ever gonna give a rat's ass to watch this movie (just like those "Transformer" atrocities), but I'm just shocked at the limit of this guys vision and the fact that he gets work at all.

Megan Fox is going to be April O' Neil? Well, give Michael Bay some credit, I assumed he would've had her as the big breasted turtle from "Next Mutation." PORN IT!
