Not looking forward to Jason apparently losing it either. That man has managed to go from my favorite guy on Spill to the living embodiment of smugness.

15 minutes in and this episode is a steaming pile. Hey, Korey, newsflash - being stupid and insulting people followed up with a halfhearted "Just kidding" doesn't make you funny. It makes you an asshole.

Nick is a good dude and I make it a point to buy him a drink every year at Spill Dot Con, but come on! I'm a year younger than him and I've played the Atari and other older consoles! Plus I know what fatalities and JRPGs are, hahahaha. Sorry to throw you under the bus, bud!

@stiver

You act as if the entire team isn't incredibly ignorant at times.

@Kevin

The thing is I was born in 1980, and my gaming experience is from the late '80s onwards. So I wasn't aware of the gaming crash or any system before the C64. But from what I recall from reading computer magazines at the time, Europe was mostly a UK/Japan battleground. Consoles (NES was the only one I was aware of) came from Japan, and the home computer systems (Spectrum, Commodore) came from the UK.

Thanks to whoever wrote that DmC letter. It just helps solidify the image of any fan of the old games who doesn't like this reboot as a complete imbecile who spends every day frothing at the mouth over hair color. Disagree with the design choices? Prefer the higher framerate? Not a fan of the color-coded combat mechanic? DURR GET OVER DANTE'S HAIR

Really, thanks a lot.

The Atari 2600 predates the Commodore 64 and the Vic 20.  Atari was dominant because they had all the best licenses.  Later, when ColecoVision came out, they secured Nintendo's Donkey Kong as a pack-in.  But then the gaming crash happened.  Nintendo and Sega both released systems but it took awhile for adoption.  Most people had turned to home computers for games.  Nintendo managed to come out on top the same way Atari did, by having the best and exclusive arcade ports.  Back then, there were no franchise games, so the selling point was if you could get the arcade game experience into the home.
