This year there are five categories for Game of the Year: Best Game on Disk, Best Download Game, Personal Favorites, Personal Least Favorites and Personal Award for whatever you feel like. Kevin has chosen three games per category. What did he love? What made him run for more of that green drink? Listen in and find out!

GOTY for me was either Walking Dead or Witcher 2 (I got it for 360 so it should count :D)

@Mother Superior Pumpkin Sinclair,
I didn't care for the journey through much. The first time I played it I enjoyed it (mainly because I was so excited to play it). But replaying, Cerberus, Kai Leng, and the entire first three hours of the game ruin it for me. The main problem with the ending to me is that is was dull and anticlimactic, so to me the end isn't the biggest problem. It was overall just not on par with ME1 and 2 (despite ME2 having a really bad storyline as well).
Not that I'm saying it's a bad game, on it's own it's good, but as a conclusion to a trilogy I think it's really lacking.

Yeah! Kevin's the boss!!!

well, not quite the boss, I'm just planting the seeds of chaos :)
But seriously, the actual boss had a great idea for this format of Spill Game of the Year stuff, it fits and they are pretty cool. Thanks Mr. Beard.

Thank you Kevin on your opinion on MMO combat. it's very dull and it's not really satisfying when just pressing a key. I think FFXII had the perfect system for an MMO. I would like to see that implemented in something.

I never bled from the ass over ME3's ending. The internet prepared me for the ending, and I knew which choice I'd go with. No one warned me how lacklustre the actual journey would be. The only improvement was the combat system, which was great. While the story did have its shining moments (I'm not saying it was all mediocre), and on paper, the plot points sound interesting enough (I had to look up the plot on wiki, it was that unmemorable), the game failed to build a rapport through its usual method of interaction.

Since I tend to like and mostly play MMO's, this is the recording I've been waiting for the most. Which is why I'm surprised to hear Kevin mention GW2. If that game would be on any list it would be on top of "the most disappointing MMO" ever made list. Now since I never had the opportunity to officially complain to anyone about that game, since none of my friends is playing it, I'll do it here, regardless if anyone's going to read this or not.

Right off the bet they started with a lot of arrogance and attitude, I can still remember the articles, "we're gonna revamp the industry, we're getting ride of the holy MMO trinity, because really, who likes just healing and tanking? no one, everyone wants to be the dps", to this day I don't know how I managed to stop myself from leaving a "go fuck yourself" on that article, I guess I chose to ignore that snotty attitude because after all it was looking like a promising game.

The launch came, 3 days earlier for me since I pre-ordered, and within a week I was 80 on my thief, two weeks later I was 80 on my warrior as well. Didn't had time to really taste pvp or high end pve at all due to powerleveling so I decided to try them out:

   - PvP - one might think that with all the choices of specs and weapons that there would be a bit variety but god damn it's worse then WoW, cookie cutter specs were out after not even 1 month since launch and most them stuck to this day.

   - PvE - what a fucking joke this was, broken mechanics all over the place, having as main tactic in some fights the following *1-2 people kite the boss so it wont reset while the other 3 run half the dungeon after they died* it's neither fun nor is it challenging, never mind not implementing the clear notion of aggro but implementing boss fights that function with that mechanic (Lovers* Note I last did this fight 3-4 months ago they might have changed it).

But I'll give credit where credit is due, I love the idea of a Global Market, I love how the game looks and feels and it's one of the few games in which leveling ,even if you've done it multiple times, feels life fun and not like a chore. Whooo! I feel much better now.

As for Secret World, well I'd love to say "I didn't see that coming" but... well... I did... I played Anarchy Online for 6 years and I watched how Funcom ran a rich, popular and highly original franchise into the ground, they had the option to go the CCP route with EvE Online and aim for a small but very loyal player base or be greedy and sell their souls to make what was hot during that time, Fantasy (funny thing, with the recent comments thrown by FC at Blizzard there is no doubt in my mind they saw themselves the next WoW back then and they're still a little frustrated). And guess what? Yeah... AoC was born, which is also FREE to play now, some companies never learn... so it's not their first game that promises so much and delivers so little.

To close this wall of text I feel like I have to say something about ME3 ... I don't get it, I just don't. Played it several times, with the improved ending and without it and I still don't get why is everyone so fucking upset. Kevin you were saying that you haven't finished it yet, well this might be a nice experiment if you one day choose to do it, leave us a note, tell us how you felt, because you were exposed to all the whines and drama regarding the end and I wonder if you'll feel just as outraged as everyone else feel or you might just go "you people really blew this out of proportions". And my bet is on the latter, because I have the feeling that this has more to do with the fact that it ENDED and less to do with HOW it ended.

I don't know what to say, I really loved it from start to finished, enjoyed every second of that trilogy and it's one of the most fascinating universes in a video game for me, only topped by KOTOR (which to this day is my favorite game of all time).

Note: Please excuse the eventual typos, English is not my main language!

People need to get over the fact that they are still bleeding from the ass because ME3's ending. The journey through was awesome and you fucking know it.

I think all my games last year were downloadable thanks to Steam.
