Dr.Horrible posted a statusNicolas Winding Refn ('Drive,' 'Bronson') is quickly becoming one of my favorite filmmakers. His knack for infusing crime dramas with vibrant and captivating style and instantly iconic characters is fantastic. His latest film, 'Only God Forgives' once again has him teaming with Ryan Gosling. The film revolves around a man living in exile in Bankok, operating a boxing club as a front for drug smuggling, who is tasked by his mother to get revenge on the people who killed his brother. It sounds perfect for a Winding Refn project and I'm so ecstatic to see it. Today, the first footage, albeit brief footage, from the movie has leaked online. It appears to be from a Canal+ festival trailer reel so the quality isn't ideal. It is clear, however, that 'Gangster Squad's Jerry Wooters won't be the only badass Gosling plays this year.
'Only God Forgives' hits American theaters this summer

Comment by Bagheadman on January 8, 2013 at 3:48pm I don't really get all the love for Drive. It was... honestly kind of boring? There's too much time when nothing's being said and nothing is really happening. I really like Refn, but I feel like that's something he does from time to time. Valhalla Rising is just as bad, if not worse. That said, I fucking love the Pusher trilogy, so the guy can totally do crime drama. I just hope he doesn't make it quite so lacking in focus and drive this time. Which turned into a pun, and I'm sorry.

Comment by Zgamer on January 8, 2013 at 1:36am I really love Gosling's diversity in film projects. He's kind of like Anne Hatheway where they don't let perceptions of the type of roles they should play stop them from picking roles that stretch them as actors. Seems that he has found his Scorsese director with Refn, so I hope they can both continue to have great success.
