Test Footage For Unproduced Hong Kong Phooey & Marvin The Martian Films

Warner Brothers' proposed live-action Hong Kong Phooey and Marvin the Martian movies are all but dead. More accurately, Marvin is officially cancelled and HKP is circling the drain. At one point both were in the works, and Eddie Murphy was even attached to 'Phooey.' This piece of casting required the studio to go to the outrageous lengths of...dialing Eddie Murphy's phone. Director Alex Zamm, who was attached to both projects, has just released test footage from the respective films. To say we dodged a bullet is a bit of an understatement. Lame jokes, toilet humor (literally), and groin trauma? Face. Palm. Take a look at the separate reels of footage and let us know what you think.

Hong Kong Phooey = decent CG, lame ass jokes, leave the project dead.

Marvin the Martian = decent CG, annoying kid, lame jokes, pointless pop-culture refrences, leave the project dead.

Lesson learned = NEVER LET THIS "ALEX ZAMM" RUIN CLASSIC CARTOONS

The video doesn't work any more.  Is the footage available elsewhere?  I'd like to see exactly what kind of a bullet we dodged.

@Bagheadman - Oops... Aku.  Regardless, no Mako, no movie... unless the folks that set up Roger Ebert's new "voice" could do something similar...

Comment by Bagheadman on December 31, 2012 at 11:01am

It's Aku, not Haku.

The video no longer works.

Oh, wow. These are absolutely fucking horrible.

Okay... Marvin as a short film - yes.  Hong Kong Phooney... No.  Eddie is not Scatman, period.  One of the reasons I believe there will never be a Samuari Jack film - Mako is dead, so no voice for Haku (the main villian).

It's only a matter of time before they pimp out every God Damn Cartoon they can....
