Jeff, when you're invading and assisting, you can pop humanity to heal.

VgGCSF, that was the plan (apparently there are 2 NPC's you can spawn to help fight), but before I could even get through the knight on the stairway, someone joined my game. I actually did pretty awesome against him, but when I hit him 20 times and it barely scratches him, and he kills me on his 2nd hit, it's discouraging...especially since it resulted in me losing all my humanity and about 6000 souls.

The game feels cheap in many ways...combat is designed for 1v1 fighting, but it regularly overwhelms you with enemies. It's a small portion of my deaths that feel like it was cheap (at least outside of boss fights), and normally I recognize that a death was my fault, but it's still a fairly regular occurrence.

Been thinking about buying Dark Souls after watching the previous playthrough and also this playthrough.

@ VgGCSF

Of the weapons you described, only the Drake Sword would probably become redundant overtime, since it doesn't scale with any of your stats. So long as your leveling up your weapons (which you can do by farming souls/shards at the Parish) you'll remain ahead of the curve.

As for faith/intelligence/attunement, if you aren't running any spells then they aren't really necessary. Just remember to stock up on resins for elemental damage or upgrade your weapons along elemental paths (you'll be given the chance to do so with certain Blacksmiths) The only thing I would suggest is that there are weapons you can find, such as Astora's Straight Sword and Velka's Rapier, which require a base stat of 14 Faith and 16 Intelligence respectively. They aren't the best weapons, but they do have their uses. The Astora's Straight Sword is especially useful in killing skeleton enemies

Michael Van Zant, funnily enough I beat, well not really "beat", I summoned another player and he totally wrecked their shit. There were summoning signs on the entrance in between Andrei the smith and the Church. It was really helpful maybe you can do that..

I progressed a bit since I last posted here. I ringed bell no. 1 then i went to check out the area around Andre the smith, the huge locked up castle with the weird looking knight and the forest. There's a big baddie on the entrance to the forest but I beat him easily using a small bow. After dying a bunch of times trying to fight this knight in Darkroot garden or forest I decided to explore the area that the door on the right to the start of the bridge the red dragon is in and I found some thieves, fucked up looking dog like beasts and eventually, the capra demon, which well, fucked me up.

I'm looking for the second, lower bell which I assume I can get to via the ruins near firelink shrine, but those skeletons are too fucked up an enemy for me (because they regenerate). I can't see a strategy for getting through there that doesn't involve me taking all of my clothes off and running like a motherfucker. I'm at level 25 or 30 using a black knights shield and the drake sword. I also have a gargoyle helm, halberd and battle axe. How long til these weapons become redundant? Also, I don't really level up faith, intelligence and attunement. Is this stupid? I'm not really making a mage character, is it possible to play this game spell/miracle free?

The Dark Hand works wonders against the Four Kings, it can block their magic attacks. And sending allies is a  terrbile idea, because when you do that the boss becomes more powerful. You need to kill them as quick as possible with lightning attacks:

-Sunlight blade miracle

-Lightning spear miracle

-Lightning enchanted weapon (preferably a painted guard sword) or one buffed with gold pine resin.

Ok, trying really hard to like like this game, but a lot of my deaths feel cheap. After dying on the Bell Gargoyles for like the 50th time, I finally caved in and looked up strategy. It led to me becoming human for the first time, but while I was in a battle with the first knight I came into contact with, someone joined my game. It was a high level wizard of some sort that I just flat out didn't have a chance against (hit him damn near 20 times and it barely registered on his hit bar). If the game is going to allow that sort of thing, it needs better matchmaking.
