Could Kristen Wiig Be Joining 'Anchorman 2?'

One of the more surprising film projects to be unveiled this year was a burgeoning sequel to 2004's 'Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy.' Adam McKay would be returning to direct, and Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, and the rest of the original cast would be reprising their roles for 'Anchorman: The Legend Continues.' Evidently, the latest plot ideas revolved around a custody battle and the Channel 4 news team dealing with yet further diversity, though that may have changed as the script evolved. Now, an interesting development in the casting of incoming talent. It appears Kristen Wiig ('SNL,' 'Bridesmaids') is being eyed for a role in the sequel. From reports, the character she would play would be a love interest for Carell's lovably brain-dead Brick Tamland. No deal has been finalized, and it should be noted that the script is still being written.

This would of course be a great acquisition for the 'Anchorman 2.' I didn't particularly like 'Bridesmaids,' but I still think Wiig is one of the funniest women working in comedy today. It's not surprising to me that Wiig has been the first person this sequel has pursued outside of the actors who appeared in the first film. Having Wiig and Christina Applegate in the same movie would be a great complement to the numerous male comedians returning for the sequel. All that said, I think Adam McKay and Will Ferrell need to be really careful with writing this character, especially if they do land Wiig. They can't make her a direct counterpart to Brick, that is, they can't make her a total buffoon. There have been sketches on 'SNL' and a couple of movie roles here and there that have tried to make Wiig cartoonishly dopey and it just doesn't work. She needs to be smart, together woman who is troubled by how much she is attracted to the doltish Brick.

What do you guys think? Would Wiig be an asset for the 'Anchorman' sequel? Should she be as silly as Brick in order to be his love interest?

Wiig is very funny, and pretty damn hot if you ask me.

FUCK. Wiig in another film. To give you an example of my hatred for this buck-tooth woman; Korey loves Vampire's Suck in comparison to my feelings for Wiig/ Bridesmaids.

Their review of Rock of Ages is how I felt watching Friends With Kids.

So all the original cast is coming back with a few new people added. I am going to be honest the movie could be crap, and I will still go see it. Ferrell, Carell, Rudd, and Koechner together are hilarious.
