Two Teaser Posters For Pixar's 'Monsters University'

Trying to stay positive on the idea of a 'Monsters, Inc' sequel. Pixar did exceptionally well with their 'Toy Story' followups, and that almost entirely washes the taste of 'Cars 2' from my mouth. I guess it's kind of fun, the thought of Mike (Billy Crystal) and Sulley (John Goodman) at college. Today, the studio has released two teaser posters for 'Monsters University.' Again, yeah, I guess that's fun. I just don't know. Take a look at the posters below and let us know what you think.

'Monsters University' hits theaters June 21st, 2013

Oh no... Pixar's plummeting in quality!

Keep the laughs straight and not dwell on making college jokes and a hackyned plot, then I'm good to go.

I say this with every movie coming and Pixar is no different. I hope it's at least good that's all I ask.

In terms of the movie, I'm expecting something enjoyable if far from emotional. The teaser trailer's proved two things for me, that there's going to be a lot of big-laughs whilst I'm watching and more importantly, that Director Dan Scanlon is working hard to get the same aesthetic and feel of the original. I'm not expecting anything emotional because the very concept of the movie restrains the possibility of Boo returning, and the was the very source of the emotion and heart of the original. So, yeah, fun but not groundbreaking.

As for the posters, I couldn't love them more. It is possible to see just from these posters how remarkably fine and lifelike the animation has become in the last 11 years, how lifelike and breezy sullies fur has become and the flexible feel of those fabrics they're wearing. They both show different specialties as well. The top one really grasps that minimalist feel of the original poster, and that bottom one really shows the characters in their natural element. Even down to the detail of how the book-case and bunk-bed divide their room into their personalities. Mike is on the bottom bunk amongst the book representing his studious nature, whilst Sully on the whilst the top bunk amongst the posters representing his laid-back, casual attitude, it's genius.

So I may not have overly high hopes for the movie itself (as I said, enjoyable if far from emotional), but I admire these posters.

This movie has already started off on the wrong foot with me. One, for the unnecessary follow-up film. Two, for completely changing Mike and Sully's backstory (Sully was actually a nerd in college, and Mike was the loudmouth jock) to fit into a cookie cutter hamfisted college "oh, they hate each other at first but then they become good friends" hamfisted plot.

I really hate to say it, but I'm just not looking forward to Pixar films any more. Call me when they get back to making original, creative, and unique films instead of just making franchise films, money makers, and animated versions of TVTropes.

For some reason I think we are going to see plenty of boos in this movie.

I'm so excited.

Very excited for this film. Monsters Inc. is one of the best Pixar movies in my opinion. Man, I used to watch that film over and over as a kid. :)

Hopefully this will be good, not just because I want all movies to be good, but because I'm tired of people equating "prequel" to "a bad movie".
